Chaos on Main Street?

Contrary to the "politically official" statements uttered at our local city council meeting we are not wallowing in "Chaos". While the local newspaper and radio reports describe a variety of problems from "Doggie Doo" to "Parking Meters, Main Street suffers from a "Dirge" not an abundance of traffic.

As politicians rant and rave at each other about fatherhood and who's the boss, the facts indicate tourists interested in a stroll into history are welcome. The City of Madison eagerly awaits the bus loads, vans, motor homes and autos you drive. If Main Street becomes clogged to a stop with traffic, we invite you to dismount and take a delightful walk.

East to West park your vehicle and join the throng of fellow folks seeking a pleasant time in a truly historic setting. If you must leave your "wheels" parked in the middle of Main Street because of others already there, no worry. There are (at this time) no parking meters or impoundments to hassle you. There are plenty of Main Street merchants to guide you in or out if it becomes a "maze".

Tourism is the business of Main Street in spite of the unwritten or artful designs of bureaucrats and politicians vested in power.

Come and enjoy Madison (Old Madison), Jefferson County and the surroundings of Kentucky and the mighty Ohio River. And the moment you step into Old Madison, you step back more than a 100 years in history. Experience a past as much alive today as it was a century ago.  Old Madison was a time of adventure. An age of grandeur. The Great Steamboatin' Era.

So seek us out anytime while we have no means nor methods to fine you and if you encounter problems in "Our Town", there are still good friendly folks here to welcome you, not to fleece you.

We will continue to update you as the "Chaos" changes.
