Comments: I agree entirely - parks departments don’t really figure directly into school programs and like you I’m lost as to why some think school sports revolves around boys basketball. It’s a little outdated to live in that world.
Thanks for getting the correct specifics about Davidson and Stucker. I appreciate you clarifying and filling gaps.
As for parks being more than just baseball - you are dead on. The Hanover Park system is essentially three parks (I think) one playground and ball court by the old firehouse, rainbow park and the extremely popular community park and its center. I’ve seen first hand how the community park has been over ran with demand - not just events or youth sports but Seniors, family gatherings and even community classes and resources such as WIC. They do an awesome job and it clearly demonstrates the need for strong community centers in our area. Hanover worked on a new website with the board of tourism to be able to collaborate with area resources on increasing sports tourism. The site is ready. They are just waiting on the sports group to get their plan together. But the foundation is in place when people get things moving.
That said - there’s more to sports than basketball and more to school than sports. MCS has so many serious problems- I really can’t imagine basketball being at the top of the list- and by the way, the wrestling program has suffered horribly and students were the ones to pay the price. Nothing is better for a sports program- than a dedicated coach-. Skinner has been deeply missed and it shows. We all know great coaches create great teams and so long as MCS settles for less, retains the worst and releases the best the school programs will set on the edge of continuous failure. Nothing will change without good coaches. #skinnersthebest. Tjh

Comments: Is Bobby really going to put up glass walls to keep people out that don’t like him? What’s he going to do with all the people behind the walls that don’t like him? It’s not like he’s loved by all his staff. Behind the scene they’re all airing his dirty laundry. Hopefully he calms down and isn’t in such a panic about someone beating him up or shooting him. Talk about going off the deep end and over reacting.

Comments: Thank you for being sensible about athletics, TJH. Parks directors have very little to do with the success of high school athletics. Not a dig, just stating a fact, but David Stucker was the Director not Scott. I believe many in their posts and thoughts fail to recall that. Yes, it was easy to believe Scott was running things, well, because someone had to. The job Scott was doing and the job David were doing have completely different roles. Sadly, Scott got looped into David’s inevitable ending. Back on topic; If we want to look at basketball solely, Southwestern was doing quite well before Scott ever got there. Jerry Bomholt had teams competing at regional championships. Madison on the other end, while Scott was still at madison, we’re producing losing seasons and got thumped by Southwestern. Again, not sure the theory holds true. It just so happens to fit a narrative some would like to be true. If we are using basketball seasons to grade parks directors, I am sure I could find some really great years and not so great years to grade each of them. Madison basketball hasn’t won anything since what 2008? Again, not sure that theory stands the test. Shawe girls basketball just had a marvelous season, does Madison or Hanover get to take credit for that? Just trying to decide which parks director should get a gold star for that . Do you see how silly this sounds? Additionally, why do many of you insist on grading athletics solely based on basketball? Rich tradition, blah blah blah. Not to say Southwestern doesn’t/hasn’t, but Madison has maintained and often thrived in wrestling (to be seen if that continues with Tyson being gone), soccer, cross country, often baseball etc. it would seem much to TJH’s point that it falls on coaches and stability of them. Could you make the argument that having a functional park system makes a coaches life easier? Absolutely. To say it’s a direct indicators of outcomes at the varsity level? Not sure it stands the test. It seems that some are taking recent bias to fit your narrative.
I won’t spend much time on this, but parks means so much more than simply sports, car shows, and music (that just happen to be “in the park”).. Well, it should at least. Ask yourselves, what do our parks offer to the non athlete or retiree? If you’re a 10 year old and you aren’t interested in basketball, football, baseball, what does our local parks systems offer to you? The world has changed, kids have changed, and so must we to a degree. When will we expect more from our local parks instead of just a baseball/basketball league?
TJH while I may not always agree with you, I do respect you. While many choose to speak strictly out of emotion, you bring common sense to issues.

Comments: Thanks so much for the kind reply. Yes it’s sometimes hard when people disagree and it’s true that even some in healthcare disagree with the American Medical Association, Center for Disease Control and even the Mayo Clinic. Theres just not much anyone can do about a business deciding to implement mask mandates. Nortons is within their rights. I’m not fond of how some things were handled during the pandemic but I attended too many funerals during its peak. So yes, I’m okay with masks mandates if it helps people be safer or feel safer be it surgery, respiratory units or pandemic precautions.
Thank you so much for your kind words about the Humane Society. They fought so hard to replace incompetent staff at the shelter and faced a huge backlash from certain persons who had been caught mismanaging and flat out lying to commissioners and the public. One of those persons was a local vet whom the society essentially fired from handling any more of our spay neuters or medical care cases. That vet was receiving huge payouts from the county beyond what was certainly reasonable. I’ve not seen such a problem since 15 years ago when we worked to bring humane euthanasia to our area and stop another vet from quadruple billing the county. We have several great vets including Watkins and North Madison but the society receives so many complaints about local vets that we are extra cautious about to who we refer. Watkins and a north Madison are fully endorsed. Thanks again for the conversation. Tams

Comments: Tami, First of all I don't trust the CDC after all the misinformation they have put out.
Please read the Cochran report regarding masks.
I have a friend who is a nurse and she and I are on the same page with regards to masks. Yes I know you are a nurse but not all nurses agree with you.
Yes KDH has staff with covid and I don't think I posted or tried to post anything that was inaccurate.
How can you trust the government such as the CDC when on May 11th this magically goes away according to sleepy Joe who gets his info from the CDC. Commonsense went out the window when it came to Covid. Children should have stayed in school - they shouldn't have worn masks, we now know the damage that has done to their ability to speak and how far behind they are in school work. The six feet distancing turned out to be made up by someone in California. As far as the other sights you posted to check well big pharma has influenced far to many of these institutions. Its all about the money, unfortunately
Please read anything regarding Covid by Dr. Malone - the inventory of the MRA delivery system
You don't have to post this I'm just replying to you personally. I disagree with you strongly on Covid and have since 2020. That being said I thank you for all you do for the Humane Society and helping animals in our county. This is where I have common ground with you.

Comments: Nortons is attempting to provide high quality care to our area families. In order to do so they must first have heathy staff. I’ve no idea which departments are currently understaffed but my last report was 14 staff tested positive for Covid. I didnt bother to ask about number of in-house patients with covid. Bottom line - they need to take care of sick people and can’t do that if their staff are sick or they don’t have staff. So if you don’t want to wear a mask - don’t -but stay away from other people who are at risk and stay away from those who need to care for sick people. Try urgent care ! Tjh

Comments: Post must contain accurate information. I checked to verify recent data and clinical studies this morning. So please resubmit.
Please check CDC (center for disease control), JAMA (journal of the American medical association) or Mayo Clinic or you can google: is wearing face masks effective. Or you can ask a surgeon , a nurse who cares for critically ill patience or even a respiratory therapist. I get that they are a pain - and that certain masks are far more effective and certain more comfortable. But posting inaccurate health information isn’t something JB supports even though he doesn’t like Biden lol.
Otherwise send links to a legitimate, scientific studies that support your opinion. If Nortons has reimplemented a mask mandate it’s because they have concern for their patience - it’s nothing personal against you or any other - it’s to protect their patience and staff since there’s been an increase in respiratory problems in our area. I can check numbers if you want me too. Tjh

Comments: Late today I learned Bob has decided he doesn’t need bullet proof glass but instead will install glass to protect those in the back part of the office space. For some reason this makes me think of a zoo enclosure. However certain staff will not be behind the enclosure. I’ve been told they are “expendable”. Lol. Seriously, not sure why he would want to build a glass wall and require citizens to be buzzed into the inner sanctum but at the moment that is what I’ve been told. My apologies to The Expendables- you at least deserve bullet proof vests in this drama. Tjh
