Comments: So we close the riverfront for 2-week so you can have a boat race that few fans and fewer sponsors support. Let it go people. Without Charlie Grooms and the financial support of Clifty Engineering, the Miss Madison, as well as, the Unlimited Hydroplanes, are done. You just lost another race site and no new sites have been added in years. And, how many boats from the West Coast do you think will travel to Madison for just one race. No Detroit,Evansville, Guntersville, Owensboro, Miami, Syracuse…
The Mayor needs to get his ego out of the way and let this sport die. Time to move on to a better use of our limited resources. Evansville ran a regatta for 17 straight years and made the financial decision to quit.

Comments: Ronny, Not everybody is a gung ho on the dead sport of Hydroplane Racing as you are. Who is the world would name their kid after a race boat driver? Shane simply said let it go, Ronny, are you going out to watch Jimmy Johnson pilot the Atlas Blue Bomber now that would be Cool.

Comments: Reference to Shane, not sorry if I hit a nerve. These people have been bring a clown show to Madison for way to long. When the whole bunch (H1) goes under. People need to speak up. I bet Tony Steinhardt would be p#%%ed with what has happened the last year. I've put alot of money out for boat races and been handed a subpar performance by H1. They can't survive on four race sites, unless they jack up the fee.

Comments: I was looking at the city of Madison's site and read through Courtney's key intiatves, and I don't think he's accomplished a one of them except in the opposite way. Also with a bachelor's degree in finance why are the cities finances in a muck? Just wondering. Save our River front!!

Comments: I can just about guarantee Rebar hasn't met with any of us because of that non-disclosure agreement. This whole thing has simply been done under secrecy and it is not right. Money has already been spent meeting with them. Drawing out plans and God knows what else. So how much of our money has already been spent on this? That's what I'd like to know. I'd also like to know where I can get a yard sign please

Comments: I believe last year H1's top dog said they were heading a new direction. I wonder if losing Guntersville was what he was talking about. This bunch can't run a friday fish fry. It's going to take a complete gut-job, house cleaning to get hydroplane racing back in business. I would like to see the amount H1 puts into advertising. I went to Guntersville 5 years. Me and a crowd of about 3000 fans watched the race. I'm not surprised they are done.
