Comments: WoW that's a lot of $$$ Looks like we are heavy in administration salaries. Teachers are evaluated - who is evaluating admin? Are the evaluations public? Take off Yancey and Mires. They both went to greener pastures.

Comments: Sooooo on the topic of the schools, supposedly the admin office is going after the SRO at Rykers because he spoke up and started an investigation about some inappropriateness between an instructional support personnel and a few students. Supposedly the dude was being a creeper. So the SRO stands up and goes outside the district to make sure it gets taken care of properly especially, since last year there were allegations made against said person and got brushed under the rug, and he is getting push back from Teresa because he went “outside the school”. Well i say kudos to him for standing up and doing the right thing. Of course this is not a topic brought up because it makes her look bad. However they let the creep resign instead of fire him? Shady stuff around here. Thank god there is at least one SRO that will do what’s right!
Admin reply: Look under the rug!

Comments: mm - thanks for the correction. My bad but I still feel we need to take care of the bigger problems that are in all of our buildings not just the high school. I'm also wondering if there is a place to find out the salaries of the folks that work on Wilson Avenue? I know several are making six figures.

Comments: Mr. Rogers, I don’t believe that $60,000 plus is for a feasibility study of the early learning center. I believe that money is for developing plans and determining the cost of what Dr. Brown wants to build. It was awarded to the same company that built the tennis courts.
The grant says a company called Bright Horizon will receive $450,000 for setting up the program.
I would assume Bright Horizon says we need one. Would they really say it’s not needed if they are getting almost half a million dollars?
But that’s ok it’s all grant money. Unless it has to be paid back.
But the school and/or its partners do have to contribute $75,000 according to the document so it doesn’t sound like the school is off the hook all together.

Comments: Mr rogers; well said! They have good teachers. They have a horrible Administration who has no clue what they're doing. Mainstreaming the special needs students was a horrible mistake. Within a week there was trouble coming out of those classrooms. It wasn't all of the students. Some of those students actually have special needs. The rest of them are just brats that cause trouble. We have lost good teachers and good subs and good staff. Not because of those students but because of the administration who won't back the teachers and the staff. When these students attack they go on the defensive against the teachers. I stood back and watched while lawhead shoved out our best substitute teacher after they were attacked. He was friends with the parents of the dangerous student. We were defenseless stop him. The student was allowed to stay even though this was his fourth attack in a semester. Another teacher was constantly being threatened by a student. The student threatened to bring a gun in and shoot the teacher. The teacher quit on the spot. Neither principal Grill nor the administration would back her at all. These are just two of many many horror stories going on in our schools. When you have people like Brown, Lawhead and Upchurch running the school it will never stand a chance! They put the "L" in loser. They are the key reason that many of our good teachers have left. Without proper discipline and good leaders it's never going to get any better.
