Solar farms should be limited to the old proving ground, Marble Hill or the MIDCOR Industrial Park on Wilson Avenue.

First of all, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY J.B. Why don't they put the solar farm on Ford's property at the Proving Ground? Doesn't it make sense not to take up good farm land. He sure has the room out there. Ford could use some of the farm ground out there that he plants in crops. Or I'm sure Hambrick has got some land that he could use. We need to leave good farm land alone. The farmers are what everyone needs from animals to humans. The more we grow here in America the less we have to get from Mexico and other country's. Take care of the home before profit. I'm sure that both men will make a hugh amount of money if they get to do this. Just saying.

Congratulations to Southwestern graduate, Jamison Lewis, for being the first baseball player in Southwestern history selected to participate in the Indiana North/South All-Star series. He will be playing this weekend at Huntington University against the best high school seniors in the state this year.

And oh by the way, he graduated in the top 5 of good graduating class. A true student-athlete.

Yep I got a message saying my address didn’t exist. Just like the city. Always jumping the gun never able to get the job done right the first time. Doesn’t matter if it’s online trash can ordering or public notice or even getting out a records request . I follow this page and have given up on this town. The noisy people and a chunk of voters who roam about cheerleading and tossing out rose colored glasses left and right and that can’t see or refuse to admit there’s a lot of really bad things going on are a serious problem. The corruption and back door money to local politicians is unbelievable. I’m not saying everything is bad just that the lipstick on the pig isn’t fooling me any.

Sorry guys I had it backwards the city is stricter than the state so the city requires neighboring property owners receive 20 days notice and the state 10 days. So failure to comply with legal notice requirements is already on the table among several other issues. Thanks tjh

Lots and lots of questions about Madison’s meeting for a solar field in the two mile fringe. I’m still checking on some things but here you go:

Yes property owners can appeal simply because the city didn’t follow its own ordinances when posting and notifying property owners and citizens. In addition there were some state violations I believe - the state says you must have a minimum number of days where the plan and information can be available to the public for inspection- that criteria was not met . The city ordinance is more lax than the state when it comes to notifying neighboring property owners. The city standard was met but the more strict state rule would have been fairer and better in this case. So property owners can appeal and will likely win on the city’s failure to obey its own rules. However an appeal may not be needed because the proposal is for the 2 mile fringe.

The location is critical since that area is meant to absorb city expansion. It has all the utilities and access needed for housing. So in an area with a supposed housing shortage - maybe the best home building areas shouldn’t be covered in solar panels. In addition the city lacks the expertise and even the ordinances which govern solar fields -unlike building a subdivision or factory - there are no rules at all that govern solar fields. So once again the city has the cart before the horse. But as we have seen for numerous years not only does the city have the cart before the horse but the horse is running loose and dropping steaming hot messes all over the place.

Behind the scenes it’s all about saving face-covering up mistakes and hoping to make a quick buck for oneself and the city.

Enjoy your day- stay cool and don’t step in any piles of horse cr@p. Tjh
