If you lived here Martie. I think you would think differently. You may not realize there are an overwhelming number of signs all over downtown Madison against this project. I am not blowing this out of proportion but 85% of the people are not in favor of this project. 85% of the citizens are in favor of bringing a lawsuit against there own city government to stop it. This has never happened in Madison that I know of. Unfortunately, the Bob Courtney you thought you knew has changed or hid it well all these years. He thinks Madison is his and he doesn't care what the people want. The man has brought this all on himself. He has forgotten when you get elected Mayor of Madison it is a public service job. I think its very brave of you to come to this site and take up for Bob. I truly wish things were different. Unfortunately, Bob is not the person he was when he came into office six years ago. He has become an authoritarian and that way of governing will not be tolerated in Madison,Indiana.

Comments: Jb’s really cracked down on bull hockey and lies. Maybe that’s why a post about Bobs imaginary integrity isn’t going up! If you wanna kiss arse go to the city page or post on your own Facebook page. No need to come on here with a fake name. Stand up use your real name.

Comments: I made a comment on your website but I believe it didn’t support the narrative that your publication sets forth. Because my comments supports Mayor Bobby Courtney’s integrity which goes against the holder of the permissions of those who decide what and who to publish, is why I don’t see it.

Comments: Greed Turns To Karma - I once characterized the Mayor as a glorified Snake Oil Salesman! That was before he was elected to a 2nd term. The list of lies & lack of transparency has been overwhelming, but good ole CryBobby felt compelled to continue his "smoke & mirrors" game by proposing new condos on the riverfront. Sadly he has underestimated the resolve of the Madison People!!!
It's time that we start voting for & electing the best candidate vs the political party. We've seen the negative results when Hand Picked Puppets have power!

Comments: It’s not a rumor , the mayor is asking the gas company to donate their land. Building there would be tricky because of what’s buried on the property but the point is to try to address that fact the city’s application was illegal in the first place because they didn’t own enough of the property. As most know to address the illegal application - the plan commission had an illegal by the bathroom doors meeting - prior to their public meeting , followed by numerous illegal actions during the meeting. Not sure why Bob thought the best answer to the illegal application was to up the anti- cheat, lie and drag every plan commission into more illegal activities. At this point , it’s a good thing Bob is trying to figure out how to follow the rules - and it’s a big indicator he is nervous along with a few other facts.
Speaking of building- no I don’t know if a phase one environmental study has been completed on the proposed site. Phase two would be soil borings. The fact they wil “cap” the soils with concrete for parking is acceptable- but digging into contaminated soil and disposing of it properly is an entirely different and costly issue. I don’t know for sure but I do recall discussions concerning removing any contamination in it would happen to be there. No flood waters don’t wash away ALL continues- only petroleum based and water based. Heavy metals like mercury and lead remain.
Special thanks to Richard Ice for coordinating the Riverfront Legal Defense Fund. He’ll send me the email but if you know Richard or can find him on Facebook just reach out with your name , phone number email and your pledge. You do NOT have to be a city or Jefferson County resident to make a pledge. Check out the photos in Richard’s page and share to yours so folks know what kind of debris and water is connect to a flood. These pictures reflect the 25 flood not the 97 which was at least three feet higher with much more damage.
Don’t forget to keep dogs off sidewalks and streets. Set out water for birds and critters. Keep posting and sharing . Tjh

Comments: Josh Wilber had no choice but to approve the riverfront condos per his Master, Dominic Grote.
Go up and ask any of the rank and file employees would vote for Josh. My guess is less than 5%. He is a dirt bag that doesn’t care about the employees.

Comments: The initial costs for legal fees is most likely fully funded. Richard Ice will be the contact for coordinating PLEDGES to costs beyond the initial attorney retaining fees. I will post the email where you can send your pledge and contact information later this week. You do not need to pay now- you do not need to give financial information or send a check . These are pledges in the event additional funds are needed. Nothing is binding.
The team leading the referendum initiative is beginning their work. I’ll update you in a few days with names of persons you can contact if you’d like to sign.
To my knowledge #RebarDevelopment has NOT scheduled any community input sessions on this project unlike all projects in other communities. I have no idea why they have not given Madison citizens the same courtesy as others. Feel free to call and ask or invite them or send them an email or Facebook message. Let us know if you hear back.
Please continue to talk to city council persons. There is no doubt the riverfront is the heart of Madison’s recreation and sport district. In fact it is the only entire community gathering place we have. It is home to mayor’s movies, festivals , dog walking, fishing, boating , fireworks, family picnics, graduation pictures, jogging, golf cart fund raisers and car shows, swimming, horseshoes, basketball, cookouts and concerts and more. To create such a place would be hundreds of millions of dollars if it could be re-created at all.
With ample space for development on both the east and west end there is no reason for irresponsible development in the heart of the only community-gathering space we have. I read a letter that described the riverfront as the “soul” of Madison. In all honesty it’s not just Madison’s but all of Jefferson County. Don’t get me wrong there are other parks, but as Doc Jones said, “there is no place as beautiful as our riverfront”. So be sure your council representatives know you don’t want it traded away for a 36 million dollar development that could have gone elsewhere. I’ll get back with more answers tomorrow or Tuesday . Please stay safe in the heat - don’t walk your dogs on streets or sidewalks and put some water out for birds and little critters. Tjh
