ANSWERS...the best post ever written on this page. Very well done TJH! Informative, accurate, fair to all sides, no gossip, slander or whining. Jeff needs to give out awards and you should get the post of the year. Now...back to our regularly scheduled whining regarding no stores on a part of the hilltop, no grocery stores where I want them, the mayor, the Dukes of Hazard, some athletic coach, some school principal, the police chief, some school board member, lines painted on a road, the hospital and vet services.

Hi everyone. Here are your answers regarding Bethany Legacy Foundation.

First it’s a nice group of ladies- you don’t have to like them all and I get there’s at least one that many would be upset that she is on the board. But overall this is a mix group of Dems, independents and GOP women who are part of our community. None of them are “stupeed”. Second Legacy is not a publicly held charity nor do elected officials appoint board members. This is a privately held foundation, not a government agency. By private - I mean their records are public but their decisions are entirely up to them. So there is no “voting” to appoint people or decide on a plan. But, Bethany does a good job of seeking input from the public and making decisions based on that input. They do a good job of announcing when and where the public can give input. But most importantly you can call the office and talk with them. They don’t dodge phone calls or hide in their office. Overall Bethany is a women’s driven charity not unlike the Women’s Giving Circle at our Community Foundation. Women often select children, women’s needs including parenting, health and safety as top priorities. They also select education and programs that help lift women out of poverty. Bethany has done a good job identifying their priorities and has every right to spend money on what they see fit.

Again- This is not a community fund. It’s not government money. If you want money to be donated to certain causes- then its simple- donate money to those causes. But it’s foolish to believe that you can control how and when other people spend their dollars. Life doesn’t work that way. Taking the path that if you just beat up democrats or liberals or whatever then you will get people to take your side- its obviously not working anywhere in the nation (at least no one sees Canada, Mexico, Greenland, Panama folding.) Bullying wont work with the folks at Bethany or for that matter any donor group. No one gives money to arseholes who insult them. So I would agree lighten up on the insults especially since it’s a mixed political group -, make a phone to learn more and start putting YOUR money where you believe it will do the most good. Hope this helps. Tjh

Vet, those are some good questions. So the Children's Advocacy applied for grants and received them; what's wrong with that? Sounds like a suave move. Do the schools have these facilities? Well you have to be of school age or attending the school to be on the school radar. And the simple answer is NO, they do not have the resources to handle the a problem of this size and to manage the process. The courts? Do you have any idea how things get to court? Where the child stays during the process? Who advocates for a good solution? Is it the Tooth Fairy, Santa or the Easter Bunny who fills in these gaps in our society? And how come everything end with a derogatory jab at Democrats? I am pretty sure caring for children is a bipartisan issue; well, one can hope.

How do you stop the embarrassment of reaching double figures in Parks Directors? Why, you just eliminate the position. Problem solved! Really thinks we’re stupid.

Ivy tech.....madison is a small town. Probably doesn't have the resources to hire teachers? Probably over spent building a facility? A money thing maybe? Like all the urgent care places...or children * * * their building everywhere. Spend. Spend. Spend.

Why doesn’t Ivy Tech offer business and industry training anymore. A lot of people getting laid off locally and all Ivy Tech wants to do is enroll you in college credit classes? I don’t have a year or two to earn a degree, I have a family and bills to pay now.

They use to offer short term training in such things as Welding, CNC Programming, Industrial Maintenance, Microsoft Office, etc., to upgrade skills. Ivy Tech needs to focus on the needs of the individual, not some dictate from Indianapolis to push credit classes.

What is happening with the Broadway Hotel? It's had the same signs in the window for two years saying they're doing renovations and about reopen. If you walk down the alley it looks like they have a homeless encampment in the back - plus rotten food containers. Such a shame.

You would need a sticker for both the city and county for the best of both worlds. The county sticker allows operation of certain county roads and the city covers certain city roads. Each is a different entity and a different jurisdiction with their own regulations.

Question? If you have a county golf cart sticker why do you need a city golf cart sticker when Madison is in the county? Just wondering!
