Comments: As teen agers. We use to walk up and down that hill. There are plenty of hills to walk up. Why is going to hanover college so important? Is city thinking easy access for students to be lured to madison?

Comments: Does it ever end??? $2.7 million for 1.18 miles??? We all know it will end up over $3 million. And the eventual project will be 6 miles???? STUPID STUPID STUPID
The City of Madison is seeking professional design and construction management services for a trail system that is approximately 1.18 miles, measuring 10’ wide with 2’ recovery areas. The trail will also connect to the Madison Heritage Trail System. This trail expansion is the first phase to connect the City of Madison with Hanover College and the Town of Hanover with a six-mile multiple-use trail.Prices have continued to rise, and as a part of this project phase, adjustments may be necessary to complete Phase 1. The budget for Phase 1 is $2,700,200 with the local match coming from Jefferson County Government, the Madison Redevelopment Commission, and the state of Indiana.

Comments: Of all the things needed in Madison all you people can come up with is a walking trail. You've already have fitness centers, Madison River front. I can see it now "jogger stuck and killed, Hanover hill" why don't you put money into the sports complex for the youth. I want to see how this turns out. Some contractor is in line for a sweetheart deal and palmns greased. You could get a better return on a golf range, putt putt, some good basketball courts, tennis courts. If we have so many that want to walk, run do it at Sunrise. Cross country does.

Comments: @Hanover Resident. Unfortunately the Hanover Hill route nor the funding for phase two doesn't seem to be addressed in the PDF link you posted. Which makes sense seeing that the City administration has been dragging their feet on letting the general public and affected residents along the route know of their plan. At the very least, there should be a traffic safety study done, not only for Hanover Hill but also the entire route. Along with with public hearings. This seems to be the build it and they will come mentality. Folks, we're talking over 10 million dollars for phase two. How much would a trail like this be truly used???

Comments: Assume there would be concrete barriers like along interstates erected on Hanover hill to wall off a pedestrian path. But, where do walkers/bikers go when they get to the top and run into the state’s routes 56/62?

Comments: Things will not be any different in the future from a Tony Steinhardt administration. Every week, I keep reading stuff happening in the current administration that is far from normal. If its picking fights with business owners, groups, or not getting along with County office holders. This administration does it and not only Bob. I have seen it from his Communications Director. The town is going to have to get behind one and only one Republican primary challenger to beat Steinhardt. We all know the Dems won't get it together. Or the madness will continue. Steinhardt will not be any different than Bob. You got a choice to make Madison.

Comments: JB- I will try to get correct information for you and your readers regarding the Hanover Hill - Madison Trail connector. I believe there is much inaccurate information including funding from the Community Foundation- but will need to dig a little. I will also try to snatch up a copy of the proposed route. There is one circulating among Hanover officials as well as the college and a few engaged citizens. However, this is a document the city has kept under wraps for quite some time. Considering the overwhelming negative response from citizens I can understand why they wouldn’t want folks to know. But I am shocked the college has been less than forthcoming. Seems to me if it were a great idea it would have been plastered all over everybody’s Facebook page and maybe even the local paper. But honestly- I’m just as confused as everybody else about a dangerous stretch of highway being rebranded as a “trail”. I’ll let you know and everyone please have a wonderful day. Tjh
PS- I don’t think Bob was concerned about the “Mill Street” business in regards to the car show. It had no impact positive or negative on that business. Tjh

Comments: So the Memorial Day car show closed down because Courtney wanted to control it and demanded it move and they said no - you don’t tell us what to do and then old Bob threw a fit and said if you don’t do what I tell you then you won’t get a permit to close streets . So the great folks said stick it and mailed out cards to all past participants saying no more car show and then informed the mayor he cut off his nose to spite his face. Then Ole Bob tries to cover his tracks and gets a new group to run the car show that notified all the car owners not to show up. Then-Bob got poor Charlie to print false information in the local paper that alls well that ends well and the folks that made it a success over the years are just a bunch of too old and tired people to continue on and no hard feelings. Basically lots of bull sheet.
So here we are: Bob lied and lied and lied again and bullied and threatened and now we have a teenie tiny retraction in the local paper. Poor Charlie, who usually does a decent job of getting it right admits he didn’t and last week had to “make a correction”. Guess what the show is moving East just like the mayor demanded in the first place except all those past participants got those cards saying no car show . So my question is was this just another drunken Bob fiasco or was he pizzed at Commissiner Little who ran a great show and Bob just wanted to skrew him or was he going after the winery on Mill yet again or was it a Kenny Washer thing because Kenny was part of the car show. Anybody know which bender Bob went on this time ?

Comments: That’s right!!!! . This isn’t a new project it’s right out of the Damon Welch plan. I think Andrew Forestor was part of that group. They tried to get the community to give money to the foundation to help fund things . I think there’s still an account there. They didn’t really raise that much. Most of it was from the foundation. Honestly if they haven’t updated Welch’s idea then this is a really big risk. Can’t imagine Hanover is going along with it . I can see the college snobs thinking they don’t need to go back and update things or correct their work but unless the Hanover board has their heads up their hind side I don’t see them going along with it. They aren’t that dumb - but the college would be that arrogant and Bob too.
