Comments: I really do enjoy reading this website and usually you guys do ALOT of work to find answers to our questions. But many of us really want to know what the heck is happening with Armstrong. Most of us are too intimidated to search out questions and we rely almost solely to your work and efforts. I for one, am pissed that he he gets so much privilege, when others are displayed with every detail with the courts documentation. Simply ridiculous… if he’s innocent- then unfortunately he would have to redeem himself. Just like anyone else would have to do. This one makes me sick for many reasons and it disgusts me that nothings being reported, by the court system.

Comments: To my knowledge there has been no pay off to the mayor. However the new MM board is struggling to figure out how to keep a promise to run the boat. Hydroplane News has had a few stories with inconsistent info, as has the local paper. Yes its true, in one article MM says we "will race in the East at Guntersville and Madison" and few sentences down says, "We hope to race in Madison." Now they are looking at the ancient Budweiser hull, no word on a crew but Guntersville supposedly says they will help with getting boat in and out of water. No one is saying if the boat will actually run or whether it will be a total embarrassment to the community if it cant even finish a heat. Yes there are those who want to see a boat run- but so far no one is saying, "Its okay if its a looser- we just want to see something float." The big issue is money. Whatever has happened in the past is just that- the past and it doesn't help the MM board raise the money to have a COMPETITIVE boat now. Its got to be tough on the board to come up with ideas that don't use tax dollars for a good ole boy-has been sport that's on its last days and be forced to use ancient equipment that hasn't been in the water in decades.
It would be great for the community to have a boat it can be proud of- even if it races in a dying sport. But so far the idea for raising dollars is "memberships" and its a long way away from a MINIMUM of 250k to 500K for a couple races with top notch engine, hull, driver and team each year. Yes the old board left a big chunk of money but also some debt. So balancing what gets paid, how much to sink in a one time season and if the money should go elsewhere are tough topics. This is a one time shot unless big sponsors can be found. Once existing money is gone that's it. Those who say they want a boat to race are going to have to "put up or shut up" because the mayor, Bipes men and Andrew can't fund it on their own. I'm pretty sure neither the Community nor Legacy Foundations want to go in the boat racing business but honestly I haven't asked. Maybe VMI has some tax or public dollars laying around but it wont be nearly enough for Madison to make a GOOD showing year after year and the public would come unglued considering certain local, state and federal economic conditions and impending local tax increases. Its a tough spot for the new board. One more season may seem possible- but it also seems really hard to do and do well. Sometimes going out on top with grace is the best thing. Hope that answers the boat questions. tjh

Comments: Hi folks. My answer to the question as to why your post isn’t going up is probably one of the following are true-
You have insulted or name called a person who just posted. I suggest you just state your opinion or better yet provide facts instead of name calling. You can however be open about elected officials. Your post is probably more effective without calling them names but they are public officials - so if the Nazi shoe fits- so be it.
You pick on vets, old people, children, dogs, me or any of Jeff’s friends or contributing writers. Just don’t do it. However, JB gives a little Lee way to those who are attacking persons who have gone after vets.
You lie or have a ridiculously uninformed opinion- for example most everyone recognized “vets” ranting about Legacy Foundation were way off base- even after facts were provided . JB allowed some of them but just got tired of the uninformed rantings in vets case.
You insult democrats just to insult Dems or lump women into one group or act as if all white males are villains or go after any race or religion as an entire group. It’s tough to figure out what he will allow sometimes - so if you want to complain that the Catholic Church protected child molesters he’d allow that- even if it’s about a local parish protecting an ex mayor. So just submit your post and see what happens.
Obviously national and state politics have caused huge impacts locally so he has been more lenient about allowing anti Trump, Musk, Braun and assorted gop posts. The truth is today’s events and tragedies are entirely gop lead - everyone knows that. But I’ve noticed he isn’t allowing posts on “what about when Biden did this or that.” My guess is he is making it clear that Trump/Musk/Braun and gop gang are responsible for the current situation not anyone else. But I’ll check or you can simply email him at jb@jbdata.net
If the page sits quiet for a day or so- don’t worry- he’s probably doing some coding or sitting on the deck in the sunshine with Zuzu and Big Dog. All guests to the farm should bring triple cherry pie from Kroger or moon pies as tribute.

Comments: I totally agree with the post below. The reckless way of the current process is not good for America. Then the incredible lies about the success is not helping the people. It just creates confusion. I listened to Kristi Noem say a couple weeks ago. “People don’t trust the government.” I get it. What I don’t get is the blind faith that this President is going to fix it all doesn’t make sense to me. All this guy has done is divide us instead of unite us. The absolute faith that somehow he can drain the swamp that will benefit the masses is a long long shot at best. What he has achieved is make the swamp darker and much more frightening.

Comments: John there’s a difference between painless and cruel. There’s a difference between a controlled process like under Clinton and this cluster fruck of illegal firings not to mention having to rehire certain civil servants that oversee critical functions like air traffic control or our nuclear arsenal. It’s a bigger picture than just government spending. And we all know nothing changes unless the bloated defense spending is brought under control.

Comments: Great points John! But to faith in the current President to fix this problem is like throwing a Hail Mary from your one yard line on the last play of the game. You said yourself u were holding your nose when you voted. This tells me you had some precaution by voting for him.
Just sayin!

Comments: The National debt is $37.5 TRILLION dollars and is UNSUSTAINABLE. Every president since Reagan has warned about uncontrolled deficit spending and neither party has embraced spending disipline (or balanced budgets). Raise taxes? Cut spending? I wonder if the public opinion of the exposure of waste, fraud and abuse, (including bloated headcounts at federal agencies) would be different if they had been exposed by Price-Waterhouse, KPMG or other high profile public accounting firms instead of E.Musk. There is NO PAINLESS FIX. Which federal agencies should be exempt from spending cuts? Which social programs should not be changed? All Americans will be impacted in some way, form or fashion, as we are all touched in some way by our governments "generous" spending priorities. It won't be pretty, but, it beats the alternative.

Comments: Sorry JB about your neighbor the veteran. It may not mean much to Musk and Trump but I think most Americans are really upset that Trump is picking on Veterans. You are rights that’s a lot of VA staff to fire. What he did to the joint chiefs of staff and firing them is bad especially replacing with someone not even legally qualified to take the job. Then you have him calling veterans cowards and losers and of course his latest stripping of all the history off Arlingtons website of some of our bravest like the Tuskegee Airmen and WASPs. It took a huge number of calls and emails to get them to allow the Black Medal of Honor winner back on the site. Musk and Trump have disgraced this nation and treated our veterans like they deserve nothing. Thank you for your service and sorry about your friend.

Comments: Eighty three thousand(83,000), that’s a pretty big number, too heavy for me to carry.
It’s the middle of March, winter is being stubborn, just a little reluctant to give-up.
A few days ago my neighbor, a disabled veteran “gave-up” he just up and killed himself. He had mental and physical health issues which were being treated at our local, short-staffed, VA Medical Center, which was already overloaded with too many sick veterans.
It may sound as if I’m painting all veterans sick, that’s not the case, But if you were in a foxhole or hiding behind a tree dodging bullets or being harassed by some dumb 2nd Lt. You might be just a little off your rocker. No big deal, we’ll give you a band-aid and A pill. You go home now, quit whining; all will be well when you get back home, but it’s not THAT EASY.
So, what’s the big deal. Jefferson County is the home of about three thousand(3000) +or- veterans. Many of these veterans who served our country honorably depend on the Veterans Administration(VA) for their health care and compensation for injuries or sickness that occurred while on military active duty.
How many will have to die because the Commander-in-chief, a draft dodger, decided to take away some eighty thousand(80,000) VA medical support personnel? A doctor or two won't matter, the draft dodger throws out.
