Did anybody else get an email saying if you wanted visitors guides for your shop you had to go down to VM HQ and pick them up but you can only pick up when they are open and they close at 5. So basically I’ve got to close my shop to go pick up guides that those fat lazy arses down there won’t bother to drive onto Main Street or at least drop them while they are out for their free lunches at taxpayer expense. Give me a break please.

JB will not post your post if you use admin - he posts under his name and admin. Only when he is unable to post will I post for him as admin. He will let you know if there are multiple admins and assign numbers if they are not using their name. Again I post as Tami or Tjh and usually answer questions - JB posts as JB or admin. Do not use admin or he will reject your post

I have checked repeatedly to see if Jamie Royce is a MCS Employee. I can find no record. I have asked someone in school administration to check and that person hasn’t been able to find him as an employee. Job listings for MCS have the 8th grade coach position open.

I have Royce’s and several other old police employee files. Back then Huntington and Wolf made sure there were two sets of records. There is no doubt Royce and several other officers conduct are such that they should absolutely NOT be on school grounds - leave alone - a coach. If you believe Royce is a coach- please send JB any info you have so that it can be forwarded to school officials who say he is not.

There is no attempt to protect predators. This site and especially JB has worked repeatedly to report and remove predators from positions which endanger children. Tjh

Jamie is the junior high softball coach. He’s the only one so they most likely will only have 1 team instead of splitting up 7th and 8th grade.

Former junior high football coach arrested last night.

Does the school system run background checks or anything? Why can’t the AD hire any decent coaches? Maybe this is why there are 15+ openings. I would say he should go back and coach but he wasn’t good at that either.

It’s not about control - it’s about being able to help parents pick schools that will take the credits. If you have a school that will apply them toward a degree - parents need to know the school and degree so they can consider that program vs one that doesn’t. Asking for help identifying possible solutions is better than letting every parent believe every college accepts every credit- that simply isn’t true. Thanks Tami

According to a well informed school source Jamie Royce wasn’t even considered for a MCS coaching position. This is a strong source- but if you have other information please send to me and I will disclose it for you or just post anonymously. Tjh

The “old paper” didnt report the multitude of rapes that occurred in the community. Nor the incest or child abuse. Nor political failures, misconduct or challenges to then Mayor Huntington who was a dear friend of Jane Jacobs. Some things never change but I believe there were fewer murders 20 years ago. Recently I recall the Walnut Street stabbing and mother and three (?) children. They still don’t cover incest but they did a decent job covering the arrest of Tim Armstrong. Sometimes - somethings are just difficult to write about-. I couldn’t bring myself to write about why the mom shot her children or why the father left them there after she warned him she would do what she did. I didn’t want to think about- leave alone- write the details of Armstrong’s predator actions over many years. The hardest thing I ever wrote was Mark Holts story and I although I wrote some of the background- I found it too heartbreaking to continue. Still, if paid readership is a measure- the community agrees with you that the local paper doesn’t provide full, accurate or even insightful coverage. Tami

Resident, Like it or not news papers are becoming a thing of the past. Yes I agree the Madison Courier is one of the worst, PERIOD!! That being said, one only has to Google Madison Indiana shooting and you will get multiply web sites covering this story. Sad but true!!

Wow, a murder happened in our little town yesterday at Clifty Falls State Park and not a word about it in Madison Courier or their website. Sure miss when Curt Jacob’s and his family ran the paper.

Thanks to Old Madison for coverage.

Thank you for the info on Univ. of Cincinnati- however I need the major or degree program. Full time students at U of C -like virtually all major universities- usually take 15 credit hours or 5 - 3 hour classes a week . You must take a minimum of 12 hours or four classes to be considered for full time which makes one eligible for grants, loans and scholarships. Generally speaking one needs AT LEAST 120 credits to acquire the simplest of degrees in non science programs. Those studying medicine, nursing, engineering or other “hard” sciences will end up taking more classes as well as lab time which does not earn as many credits as “regular” classes. Sociology, Psychology , teaching etc are much simpler programs with much less if any lab time. Internships and practices are a different bird all together. So I can’t help much if I don’t know the degree and which courses were APPLIED to the degree.

Bottom line for a biology or chemistry course there would be two hours of lecture and 3 or 4 hours of lab each week. Total time is 5-6 hours but unlike all non science courses, the credit is not one per hour, instead a person taking a biology or chemistry class would only get 4 credits for 5-6 hours of class/lab. Nursing, Pharmacy and medical labs are far more challenging with students spending up to 30-32 hours in lab or class vs other degrees where students only have 15 hours of “class” time.

It is entirely possible to complete one’s degree early by simply loading extra courses - but 18-21 or even 24 credits is a heavy load. Purdues nursing and pharmacy programs all required 18 and on occasion 21 credit load. Still with certain degrees you must complete certain classes in a certain order . In other words senior course #2 is often listed as -#402 and that class is only offered to students who have completed the prerequisites of the 100,200 and 300 levels. Further more that course is usually only offered in second semester. Altering from those schedules requires approval from department heads and entails a minimum of A average in all previous courses , review of aptitude and study skills etc. Where Ivy Tech will nurture or support failing students- major Universities won’t waste time & reputation on “marginal” students. There’s a reason Purdue has a huge amount of money from federal and state government as well as alumni- it doesn’t graduate students who barely get by and it maintains one of the best reputations in the nation for graduating exceptional professionals and running some of the best programs and research facilities in the nation. The same is true for IU -

If a student had 33 credits from Ivy tech but had to do 3.5 years of “regular” college , that tells me less than 15 credits actually transferred- more than likely freshman english and maybe freshman public speaking - so drop a note again with the degree and the credits that transferred and APPLIED to a degree. Obviously Uof C is not an Indiana College that would be required to “accept” and certainly no college isrequired to “apply toward a degree”.

Sometimes we get what we pay for- Ivy Tech credits are cheap but they don’t help acquire a degree. They may get you college Croft’s but that’s simply not enough to graduate unless one is pursuing a “general studies” degree- which is essentially worthless in today’s market . Send the program and degree and which credits transferred or didn’t. If you happen to live in Marion and paid for out of state education the cost would have naturally been higher . Gotta go. In a hurry. Tjh

We need a lot more guns in this country. It's the only way we're going to solve the problem. If you have a disagreement with someone then you both shoot and whoever comes out alive was right.

Witness 1 was driving past Clifty Falls State Park. Witness 1 observed a male subject standing near a vehicle near the north entrance to cliffy Falls State Park. the male subject was on their telephone and they were holding a gun. Witness 1 observed another subject in close proximity, also standing near the north entrance of Cliff Falls State Park.

Witness 1 became concerned of their observations. Witness 1 turned their vehicle around and contacted police. When Witness 1 returned to the area of Clifty Falls State Park, there was a subject now on the ground. The subject, Witness 1 previously observed on the phone and holding a gun was now in a vehicle.

A male from Georgia was incarcerated on a manslaughter charge. I’m sure this will be a case that will be subject to self-defense, and for a jury to decide.

Football finished up last night. Did the administration get the guy they wanted or did they go for one of the other 2? Volleyball got the guy the administration wanted so I assume the AD won’t make a decision. Dr. Brown will have her pick and that’s what they’ll do. And if you don’t like it then you won’t have a job. Girls soccer begins middle of next week. They got a late applicant that they seem to think will be their choice.
