Lol... Arthur we a Jewel before Bob lit in here like a bad wind. I know he's probably put you up to this. He still has a few friends that will come in and back him up. Now we want to be a jewel when he leaves. We don't want to be trashed up on the riverfront by a building that none of us want. Today I hear, and this is not hyperbole, this is the honest to God's truth. There is a real problem with the courtyard. It is such a problem that it is almost unpurchable for anything except the parking lot. The city has according to what I was told attached a part of an agreement to the property saying that they will be responsible for any cleanup from any problems, I can't remember the exact words that were used but when it was all looked up and defined apparently you can't build on that property if you do you're going to have a problem. I would expect it's probably the same thing that has to do with the dog park and the reason nobody can build their. I DM shut that idea down. In other words the ground may be corrupt. The way this was read to me it's not a maybe but it is. That is concerning because apparently what Bob has a great to do is for the city to take over any cleanup or response anything responsible for any environmental problems down there, not just the river but it actually referred to something even worse. With this I'll call out Warren Auxier to please look into this further. It is my understanding that this may well have come from a contract agreement probably filed at the county courthouse. Please Warren check into this. What was told to me today is an absolute game changer . I am certain that the people of Madison do not want to be fully responsible for any multi-million dollar mess that we have to pay for if the building is condemned because of something that may be under it, or the river coming and washing it out since they can't get flood insurance. That's exactly what this looks like. Additionally Arthur , I happen to think and others do too that the property at the corner of Michigan and Clifty Road looks like a dime store outlet. And is not all that big deal. At least not the big deal of Bob made it out to be. Most of that stuff is priced too high. If you go into one of those stores with a sale ad they don't honor it because they say that's only for the bigger stores. And evidently Arthur you forgot about the great big mess that he had going on on Main Street that was only a paint job, follow promptly by painting stripes on top of a paint job that didn't last anytime. The lanes are confusing. If he'd hang on to money he'd have a lot more to spend on Madison instead of whatever else he's doing with it. Actually he's just a sore disappointment to everybody in this town. Thank you for your contribution Arthur you gave me a big fat laugh. Tell your buddy we're not believing any of that. We know what our eyes show us.

Madison is still a jewel. The problem with Courtney's misguided intentions is that he seeks approval from a select group of people. His ego guides his decisions. I have never seen a public official seek as much as publicity as our mayor. He has friends build him up on social media. The man just needs to be true to himself and his community.
It's nice that you show up, but why does it always involve your picture and publicity? Why can't he just be supportive and quietly show up?
Don't you get tired, Bob?

The mayor had divided our community. If you disagree with him you are marked as difficult, a screaming democrat, ill informed or stupid.

Give him all the kudos you want, but look deep into the man. He is not the leader you believe him to be.

Moving back here almost 4 years ago was one of the worst mistakes I ever made in my life. This is not the same Madison I was raised and lived in before, and thanks to our local government and the entitled, rude, and unkind that are everywhere anymore it's become unbearable to stay here. Living here has made my mental health significantly worse and I can't get the help I need unless I'm a drug addict or in jail. So yes I don't like it here and yes I do plan on leaving soon. And you will never see me back here regardless of what happens. This town is a cancer.

Madison was a jewel prior to Courtney! He is slowly and determined to change that before his term is complete. He wants to setup all this craziness prior to a new administration! Just on that it’s petty and disgraceful! His Main Street roadwork could truly not be this time of year. Does our Mayor not look at events Calendar? Between Chiquita, Loft Tours, Soup Stew, sorry if I’m forgetting any event. Then we roll into Christmas Tour. How many road blocks will derail that event! Beyond all of that, has anyone taken into account our local Main Street shops. They work hard to bring customers in. They try diligently all year to welcome visitors and residents every day. This is not for the city it is for their business. If the city keeps pulling these mistakes your businesses will be gone. Then all you have is Main Street with empty storefronts! , Oops, don’t blame the shops, take a look at how the city respectfully ignored all our local shops! 🤬

Reading the comments on this forum and you would think that you all live in the worst city in the universe. From my perspective, Madison has never looked better. It is due to the planning and continued progress of Madison's Mayor and the local community. I believe that with the comments that seem to flood this forum, there are biased opinions from the folks who control this website. If the folks in the whine community can do a better job, maybe run for mayor during the next race. The tireless effort that Mayor Courtney has demonstrated over the last few years has resulted in Madison being recognized as one of the jewels of the Ohio Valley.

Rich… That would be Jay Roney…..Facilities Manager. I doubt he had a clue.

If he did and something does happen the school will be setting yet another law suit.

Can’t send kids to EO Muncie it’s slated to be to be demolished and a $20 million plus daycare/ learning center is planned for the site.

Was this a known issue and not addressed to keep all the bond money for the Muncie project?

Hopefully the bond money will be used to correct existing problems before creating more.m

If not, where is the school going to get the money to fix the pool? The Sup bonded $28 million already for her pet project. Expect a referendum in the near future.

Can someone please explain to me how you could be getting a water bill in Access of a thousand plus extra gallons of a day per month that's 30,000 plus gallons a month and someone not be alerted to that fact? I assume we're paying that water bill at the Junior High. Surely someone's watching that water bill better than that. If my water bill is 30 gallons over I'm suspecting there's a problem. And if it's leaking that kind of water under the building every month for 2 or more years that water has got to be creating one great big sinkhole. I would not allow child to go in that building until it is fully inspected. If that's unstable the weight of all those children are going to collapse that building. It's not going to wait until some night and somebody's going to look over in the junior high it's going to be gone. I hope that someone is moving on this quickly. If need be they need to move the kids over to EO Muncie for the time being. And maybe the brown gym. This is a dangerous situation. I think the lives of our children are worth more than I'll wait and see situation before they get somebody in there to check things. I for one would not allow my child back in that school until I had a written guarantee that is that is all not undermined under their.

You might as well not debate whether it was a good Chautauqua or not . All you have to do is read some of those Facebook posts that store owners are posting. It’s all about worst year ever, not sore how they will make it, road repairs killed them , Courtney’s an idiot for construction all over Main Street etc . On top of Trumps economy and tariffs they have Courtney’s “insane road project”. So take it straight from the shop owners. The only people that left feeling good may have been some of the vendors at all the shows. Don’t know what to say except the economy and Courtney are killing this town.

We have went through this Riverfront Development situation for months. We still don’t know how this project benefits the community at large. Just building a building because the Mayor said so!

@
, main, I agree with almost everything that you said in the letter. Here I will add when Krebs stated" don't think that we're not listening" she just failed dad the part that they really don't give a damn. They're hearing it but it's just not sticking in there anywhere, because their heads are all up Bobby's keister. So it's kind of hard to hear in that deep dark spot. In other words they could care less because we're nothing but a bunch of Rubes to them. You know peasants. That's the way they were from the very beginning. Both this city council and the one before. They're so buried up in there they can't see daylight. I know one time where I saw her at a council meeting sit right there and lie straight up. And she said she was lying so don't believe anything comes out of her mouth. They're going to do whatever Bob says to do and they're going to be asking what color on the way up. I have sit in a bunch of City Council meetings over the years, and I've never seen such a counsel that a bunch of yes men and women to this guy.
