Comments: JB- I will try to get correct information for you and your readers regarding the Hanover Hill - Madison Trail connector. I believe there is much inaccurate information including funding from the Community Foundation- but will need to dig a little. I will also try to snatch up a copy of the proposed route. There is one circulating among Hanover officials as well as the college and a few engaged citizens. However, this is a document the city has kept under wraps for quite some time. Considering the overwhelming negative response from citizens I can understand why they wouldn’t want folks to know. But I am shocked the college has been less than forthcoming. Seems to me if it were a great idea it would have been plastered all over everybody’s Facebook page and maybe even the local paper. But honestly- I’m just as confused as everybody else about a dangerous stretch of highway being rebranded as a “trail”. I’ll let you know and everyone please have a wonderful day. Tjh
PS- I don’t think Bob was concerned about the “Mill Street” business in regards to the car show. It had no impact positive or negative on that business. Tjh

Comments: So the Memorial Day car show closed down because Courtney wanted to control it and demanded it move and they said no - you don’t tell us what to do and then old Bob threw a fit and said if you don’t do what I tell you then you won’t get a permit to close streets . So the great folks said stick it and mailed out cards to all past participants saying no more car show and then informed the mayor he cut off his nose to spite his face. Then Ole Bob tries to cover his tracks and gets a new group to run the car show that notified all the car owners not to show up. Then-Bob got poor Charlie to print false information in the local paper that alls well that ends well and the folks that made it a success over the years are just a bunch of too old and tired people to continue on and no hard feelings. Basically lots of bull sheet.
So here we are: Bob lied and lied and lied again and bullied and threatened and now we have a teenie tiny retraction in the local paper. Poor Charlie, who usually does a decent job of getting it right admits he didn’t and last week had to “make a correction”. Guess what the show is moving East just like the mayor demanded in the first place except all those past participants got those cards saying no car show . So my question is was this just another drunken Bob fiasco or was he pizzed at Commissiner Little who ran a great show and Bob just wanted to skrew him or was he going after the winery on Mill yet again or was it a Kenny Washer thing because Kenny was part of the car show. Anybody know which bender Bob went on this time ?

Comments: That’s right!!!! . This isn’t a new project it’s right out of the Damon Welch plan. I think Andrew Forestor was part of that group. They tried to get the community to give money to the foundation to help fund things . I think there’s still an account there. They didn’t really raise that much. Most of it was from the foundation. Honestly if they haven’t updated Welch’s idea then this is a really big risk. Can’t imagine Hanover is going along with it . I can see the college snobs thinking they don’t need to go back and update things or correct their work but unless the Hanover board has their heads up their hind side I don’t see them going along with it. They aren’t that dumb - but the college would be that arrogant and Bob too.

Comments: Rumor has it the money for this death trail is being paid by the Town of Hanover and Hanover College. 10 million from their Eli Lilly grant. If you wanna complain about things take it up with the town Board for agreeing to pay for a plan that’s almost a decade old. Because this catastrophe in the making first started under Welch and his stellar scheme. Back then it was in fact planned to go from Hanover , across devils back bone and then downtown. It didn’t have a lot of support when Damon proposed it but at least no one tried to pretend a busy highway was a walking path for kids and families. All you have to do is think back to those crazy days when everything was all about being a stellar community. It was a bad idea even when it wasnt a dangerous one.

Comments: @ bill due. I think if you do a little research you will find that the 2.6 million you speak of, is only for phase one of the proposed trail expansion. Phase one takes Heritage Trail to Clifty Park. Which I personally don't have any problem with. It's phase two that hasn't been truly discussed in a public forum. Wonder Why?? It's my understanding that phase two is estimated at over 10 million dollars. And by the way, Bob Green is not a decision maker in this process. Hanover Hill becoming a two lane hill is insane!!!!

Comments: Hey bill due. If you think Bob hasn’t borrowed this town into serious debt you can’t read the city budget. Money is so tight Bob stole from the airports income. The parks dept was half million plus in the red along with his Pace slush fund for campaign donors and pals was in the red. All reserve cash has been pizzed away on cost override's on the pool and countless other “pretty” projects. As far as money for the trail that measly 28 doesn’t amount to much. The current budget is 10 MILLION and that’s with the city trying to sneak the road repairs by the state. Just so you know that 10 million comes from town of Hanover and Hanover College grant they got from Eli Lilly. So far there’s no plan for cleaning up the mud and rock slides. I’m thinking they just scrape the kids body’s off the rocks and hope the city and Hanover College don’t get sued. No one said anything, anytime about putting Ma and Pa and the kids in the headlights of fast moving traffic. The original route study was Devils Backbone. Hanover College and town board need to keep the 10 million and come up with other projects. This one is dangerously stupid. But you’ll know the truth if they decide not to gather new info and get a safety study. That’ll tell you they already know it’s a bad idea and can’t seem to set it aside until they can solve some of the problems or come up with something better.

Comments: What possible benefit to the city of Madison or Hanover could this walking trail be. I understand that the money has been allocated for this this project, but it makes no sense. How is there any return on the money. Are people going to come here to walk the trail and then stop in Hanover at McDonald's and then walk back down to go to the Red Pepper for a sandwich?

Comments: The city of Madison has no financial stake in Miss Madison. It does have a stake in the Regatta as it provides services and manpower to the event itself. That may have all changed when Courtney claimed all these assets from the sale by the Miss Madison board belonged to the city. Wow, he gets the best of both worlds. Courtney needs to let the public know where the funds for the new sponsorship are coming from. If they are from private donations then that’s great. If they are from an unknowing city taxbase through city funding then we have entered into a whole new unprecedented realm.

Comments: The Heritage Trail expansion is already funded through a 2.6 million dollar Indiana's Next Level Trails program grant. That money has been sitting there waiting for 2 years. The Community foundation paid $28,000 for the route study. Hanover College and Bob Greene is on top of it. Complain to them if you don't like it. LOL City debt? Most of it is sewer and WWT upgrades that is funded by you water and sewage bill rate increases over many year. Somewhere in the 12 million dollar debt range but it is funded.
