Comments: Wheel Tire Tax, city did pass this now the county is or will probably pass this tax as well. Question for the people who live in the city is will they have to pay 2 tax's. Pay one fo rthe city because you live in the city and pay a wheel and tire tax in the county as you are a resident of the county can anyone answer the question? County councilman May showed up to the city council meeting prior to the vote expressing concerns over double dipping. He state dhe was against it. But good ole Jenner could not answer the question. Just does the city pay a city attorney for. No update on the city website for the answer of this question nor was it discussed at the next city council meeting.
Next city project main street, we push the curbs out into the street take up more parking that way people have less spots to park great idea city creating parking problems. We are now shortening the street making it narrower for traffic. When the city done building the new curbs the semi's who deliver food or drinks that will be taxed now can tear them out with trailer tires. I also like how the stop mark (white line) is so far back that you will need to pull almost two full car length forward in order to pull out safely. Wait the whole idea is calming on main street. NEWS flash MAYOR you dont drive main street early in the morning when people are going to work see hoe fast they try make it Broadway in order to get in front of each other because the calming doesnt work! News flash does not work! Sit on East end of main street early in the morning you will find people blowing through traffic lights because of the slow moving traffic on the west end of main street. One lane east and west cause ROAD RAGE and made the matter worse. Go sit and watch you will see it. Now you say have city police sit at the intersections. City Police hardly have enought to cover the road now because of the leadership by MAYOR Courtney. I say leadership because Chief Scudder is a puppet for the Mayor. Officers are leaving faster than they can hire them due to all of this. Public safety and officer safety issue in Madison. Outside everything seems fine but inside in need of alot of work for public and officers.

Comments: Lol Can someone tell me anything about a special session coming up with the County Council. These two sessions are supposed to be August 26th and August 28th?? This is supposed to be I'm assuming about increasing our car and truck tags 25 to $40 every year. This is to be in order from Jefferson county. I understand the city has already done that. And added additional $25 to the people that live in the city. But this surcharge will be put on everyone in Jefferson County. And I was told meaning that anyone that lives within the Madison City Limits would also be paying this charge so they would be charged an additional $50 every year to tag their car or truck. If it's a bigger truck they would be paying $40 extra year. So we're already paying half of our gasoline prices in Texas Federal and State. Just where is it that money is going?. It's certainly not to fix the city of Madison roads. Have we not forgotten the Main Street Fiasco. Which they're planning on now actually taking up the surface and repaving and putting new Surface on. This will not be black paint with yellow stripes. But where does all the money go? If we're not supporting Public Schools where is all this money at. If they're not going to support Public Schools then they should use the money on roads. Where's all that Payless Casino money gone to. I thought it was also supposed to go to the roads lottery tickets and the like. It's not funding schools! So it ought to go to roads. Would someone please explain what's going on

Comments: So the new subdivision on the hilltop just across from Clifty falls north entrance isn’t going to help with the so called housing shortage? Are there going to be low and moderate income houses or what the mayor likes to call market rate? Developer is Tony and Lisa Hammack so I don’t think it’s going to be itty bitty cheap houses but who knows. I honestly don’t understand why the mayor keeps trying to keep things secret. I guess he thinks maybe nobody paid attention when the land in front of the house that burned got sectioned off for an access road to the new housing. I’m so sick of him expecting everyone to keep his dirty secrets.

Comments: Schafer put up a survey on his facebook page and city hall and has the gaul to ask your opinion after working with the mayor to stop public opinion. The mayors been saying people in favor of the monstrosity on the riverfront are afraid to speak up. Thats a lie. There were a few who spoke at each meeting, but obvious to all except Schafer is that there aren't many in favor. Maybe Josh is the one thats wilfully ignorant as he put it in his survey. How many more signs, petitions, letters, emails, phone calls, public meetings do you need Josh to swallow the truth. This is for anyone that thinks Josh is going to listen, he works at Grote, his boss John Grote voted in favor of giving the developer 5 million in cash through the TIF board and all kinds of free work from the city for sidewalks, roads, sewer and water plus they are giving them the land that the mayor promised when we citizens paid for it would be open space. Then add the fact that Dominic Grote was recently fired off the state board for all sorts of misconduct and well you can see Grotes have their dirty little fingers all over this project. By the way Josh Wilbur works for Grote too. So it looks to me as if Grotes are still running city council. So who is willfully ignorant now Josh? Or maybe you're just as dirty as Dominic?

Comments: Is this turning into a police state! He should be checking IDs for starts happening people. That's ridiculous! God help him if they ever kept one of my babies, while they're still babies. This isn't Washington DC! Of course with Bob Courtney I think we can expect stuff like that and just about anytime. And and now it appears we have to worry about Flint too. This town is just gone Straight to Hel7

Comments: Yes on 07/21 a 12 year old girl was taken out of a car and put in handcuffs. Guns were drawn. Her father was arrested with only a statement that was a lie. The Sherriff stated he thought she was a her mother. She looks like a 12 year old kid not a 36 year old woman. The body cam video has been requested. But was told no. I request everyone ask for it. We need a strong police department that does investigations and not just fly off someones word
