Comments: I want readers to know the Grotes are behind the building of the apartment complex on the River. Do you people really think this family is about affordable housing? Currently, I'm looking into the tie between this project the Grotes and the Indiana Economic Development Corportation. Dominic Grote was a member of this Board. He and the other board members got fired by the Governor because of an ongoing forensic investigation. Evidently, shady dealings were going on all over the state because of the actions of this State Board. Sources say there is something fishy between the River front apartments, Rubar Development, and Indiana Economic Development. I'm sure this as all changed with Dominic Grote being thrown off the Board. For sure, something big was about to go down and Dominic was into up to his eyeballs. I'm told it was a setback to this project when Dominic was relieved of his Board seat. Not to mention, John Grote got this whole ball rolling with the TIF zone changes to enable this project proposal to get this far. This may explain why the Mayor and Steinhardt have not been forth coming with details of the benefits of this project to everyone. I don't have any more details but something smells with this information big time. If anybody can clear the air on this topic. I would be interested.

Comments: Before this whole situation with John Scott became more public than it already was, it just scratches the surface of what a lousy job is being done here. You can't call dispatch anymore without getting someone who just doesn't want to do their job then attempts to gaslight you for calling and they claim they don't send out officers unless you disclose your identity. You also see city cops patrolling Clifty Drive and Michigan Road where there are no residences so they can pull someone over and double fine in a work zone. Oh and county patrolling Wilson Avenue when the factory workers go to lunch is dirty too. The real driving issues exist in residential neighborhoods and it's been months since a cop has come to my neighborhood to watch traffic. So Scudder and Flint, can you explain yourselves and tell us how you're going to fix these problems?

Comments: Ought to show these photos to potential condo owners to see their great river view. Just need a KY fishing license to fish out your front window.

Comments: The mayor’s stooped so low ands so desperate that he has his daughter’s baby daddy boyfriend trolling the new Facebook page that shares updates and facts on the riverfront luxury housing development. Looks like he and a couple of his buddies are attempting to disrupt the page. It’s the Riverfront Legal Defense Fund page and it’s got some good info on it if you’re interested. Makes me kinda wonder why the pro crowd hasn’t started their own page but then again there’s like what 12 people in the whole town that think building in a flood plain is a great idea? I dunno but the mayors desperate to use the family baby daddy to try to show support. So he must think somebody’s looking. So good for you Riverfront Defense page people.

Comments: Can’t just blame the abuser gotta give credit where credit is do Paul Geyman has been letting people abuse animals for almost 20 years and our current sherriff hasn’t given two cents to even bother to see what Geyman does or doesn’t do. I doubt they’ll fire Paul even after this one. Honestly there’s been just as bad over the years.

Comments: Behind the scenes lots of work goes on to address the issues related to the proposed flood plain- riverfront multi story , market rate housing development in the heart of the community’s recreation, tourism, festival and community gathering district. One item that is being investigated is the board membership. Currently, we know the mayor has appointed at least one illegal member. Questions continue about three other members. Maybe the illegal members would have changed the vote outcome - maybe not. Maybe having illegal members invalidates the boards standing all together or requires the board to go back and process the city’s application aka last minute resolution to dodge the law- I don’t know . Neither does anyone else. But the Riverfront Defense Team is working hard on all aspects. There are many committees and many volunteers . If you’d like to follow progress, pledge towards attorney fees or even volunteer visit the Riverfront legal defense fund page on Facebook. Richard Ice manages the page along with several local social media gurus. Tjh

Comments: Geyman should’ve been fired years ago when he let all those other dogs die at in the county. The owner had left them caged and wasn’t feeding them. They had old barrels for dog houses. It’s pretty sick how law enforcement protect each other if that’s what you call the dog catcher

Comments: The Scott dog problem is as old as Paul Geyman has been the dog catcher. Geyman is the animal control problem. I know for a fact because the humane society has fought since the county hired him . They spoke to commissioners, animal shelter meetings and as far as I know every sheriff before and including Wallace and Flint. All the commissioners did was to shift who was in charge of Paul to the sherriff dept. Then Wallace wouldn’t fire Geyman because he was a pity hire under Huntington as favor because it was old Al’s nephew and Paul’s dad was disabled somehow. The whole time different people from the Humane Society just kept getting picked on and ignored. Everybody watched it. We saw it again when they started in on the animal shelter , pointing out how the downtown vet was helping shelter staff neglect and abuse kittens. If I remember right some screaming lady from city hall kept defending all the abuse. It was wild to watch. But the shelter had been abusing cats and dogs under the two past directors. Honestly if anyone thinks this abuse just happened they haven’t been listening and watching. It’s not just John Scott, there’s the lady on Main Street hoarding cats in her basement and neglecting them. The cats that get shot with BB guns in Hanover. There’s Mrs. Johnson who just keeps letting her cats have kittens and then watching them die. There’s been dozens of complaints about dogs left out without shelter and water this summer and Paul never shows up. So if the sherriff isn’t watching and making Paul account for his time then the buck stop there. Fire Geyman and vote for the other guy next election

Comments: The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Jefferson County, Indiana executed a search warrant at a property in regards to allegations of animal neglect.
Deputies worked alongside the Field Veterinarians of the Indiana Board of Animal Health at a property at 851 Virginia Avenue in Madison.
There had been numerous reports of dogs attacking and chasing people at neighboring properties. There had also been multiple documented cases of dogs that have been diagnosed with canine parvovirus, Lyme disease and other ailments.
Several dogs previously removed from the property were malnourished, with matted fur and were infested with ticks and fleas.
While on scene law enforcement encountered numerous emaciated dogs who were without potable water and their food was contaminated with feces. Dogs were located in kennels that were filled with feces to the point that the dogs were unable to safely stand.
Some of the animals were found with skin infections and open wounds; some of the wounds were old and in the process of healing.
Additionally, deceased dogs were located on the property in various locations and states of decomposition. During the search, law enforcement also located a dead horse.
Thirteen dogs were confiscated from the property and there are still believed to be four that are unaccounted for.
Officials are asking anyone who runs in to the remaining dogs to not approach them and to contact animal control immediately.
The property owner, John Scott, was on scene and taken into custody on preliminary charges of 17 counts of Animal Neglect, 17 counts of Cruelty to an Animal, one count of Improper Disposal of a Dead Animal, 10 counts of Sale or Transfer of a Diseased Animal.
The dogs which were seized are now in the care of the Jefferson County Animal Shelter where their health is being evaluated. These dogs will remain in the custody of the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
The dogs are not available for adoption, but the shelter is asking for donations of dog food.
