On his latest Facebook post on Patrick Thevenow’s page he argues in favor of 5 plus million going to luxury condos saying it’s much needed housing. I don’t know about you but I believe whoever needs luxury housing can pay for it themselves. I’m not that excited about paying for low income housing but forget it if you want me to pay for rich people’s condo home away from home. This is getting ridiculous . Is this a steinhardt Jr. scheme or is Bob drinking again today?

Comments: Hi John B. I would start drawing the line at 28 million per QUARTER for Trump to golf. Then I would drop the North Korea style parade that’s going to run 45 million. Then I’d cut subsidies to oil companies depending on your source is over 646 billion in USA - 7.1 trillion world wide. Then I would cut to absolute zero retirement benefits and special health care for all elected officials and civil servants who must then pay into and require them to utilize social security and Medicare like our citizens do.
Or we can cut kids cancer research and kick grandma out of the nursing home onto the streets. Maybe stop all Ebola programs in Africa and let it make its way to the USA or once again fire all the folks that oversee our nuclear arsenal. Or just keep attacking resources and assistance for our veterans.
@NPR. Who cares who sits on board where the listeners are split almost equally between independent, republican and democrat. You may not like it that facts are spread openly but calling it a liberal agenda is a pretty serious negative reflection on those who seek to silence the truth by calling it democrat or republican. Hard truth- 48% of Dems have 4 year degrees- maybe that’s why they have a step up against the 31%of gop with 4 year degrees. Who really wants uneducated people on their boards? I’m not saying all gop are “st*pid”- just a 1 in 3 chance is slim compared to almost 50-50. Bottom line it’s okay to have left or right leaning entertainment. NPR and PBS are entertainment. Fox not news is entertainment. Let voices be heard. Quit banning books and throwing people out of town halls and trying to “cancel” everything that hurts your feelings. There’s value in sharing and allowing people to form their own opinions vs censorship.

Comments: According to Katherine Maher, CEO of National Public Radio, their editorial board is comprised of 87 registered democrats and 0 Republicans. Can we talk again about their bias or should we continue to play pretend they’re not?

Comments: NPR receives $11 million dollars a year in federal handouts. 99% of its annual budget is from other sources. At the other end of the spectrum, Harvard receives $9 billion dollars a year. Harvard has a $53 billion dollar endowment, plus tuition revnue. Both are either suing or will sue to maintain their government funding. Where do you draw the line on government handouts? Eventually, it will be the courts that will decide who gets money and who doesn't, as congress is paralyzed and /or irrelevant. Whether it's $11 million or $9 billion, these payments are being made with "borrowed" money (government debt, the government is "broke" without borrowing). I wonder how many taxpayers would VOTE to fund these payments, to these institutions, were they a "ballot" issue? Remenber the MCS school bond issue from a decade ago?

Comments: Before falling prey to false claims of government savings please consider a few facts- NPR receives less than 1% of its finds directly from the federal government while its member stations may or may not receive up to 8-10%. PBS is less than 15%. Their funds come from private donors, foundations and their own marketing revenue sales and sponsorships. They aren’t going anywhere.
Civil War, Vietnam War, Country Music, NOVA and National Parks documentaries have been the most popular documentaries on PBS. PBS continues to be a well respected source of educational content for American youth classrooms in both private and public schools. The content is as far from politically skewed or biased as can be unless one simply has zero tolerance for facts about nature, science and American landscapes and history.
NPR has received Gracie Awards, Edward R. Murrow Awards, Peabody Awards, and Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Awards. NPR is recognized world wide for investigative reporting on topics like climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the war in Gaza. NPR also receives recognition for its podcasts, such as "No Compromise" which won a Pulitzer Prize. It’s okay to have an opinion about everything and anything. But it might be best to consider FACTS to better build an informed opinion rather than present a politically biased claim that something should be “shut down” simply because one doesn’t agree or like it or worse post false info to JBs page. I hope everyone has a wonderful day- stay safe and tell someone you love or admire them. Make today better for just one person in your life. Your opinion matters to family and friends. Tjh

Comments: Great news NPR could lose federal funds. Couldn't happen to a better bunch. A biased radio program. Just like the old Vevay newspaper. Negative to one party. Guess who. It's a worthless government funded broadcast, in part. The CEO Paula Treger makes over a million a year. Lied to congress that they weren't biased

Comments: This speaks volumes regarding what kind of people Rick and Mindy Mcgee truly happen to be. They claim to be upstanding business people. In addition, trying to portray yourself as a conservative Republican. All the while taking a position where you would collect money from the city for doing nothing. Where is the honor and integrity in doing this for the folks of Madison? Shameful is all I can say.

Comments: You are mostly correct. But the whole truth is when Bob and Steinhardt Jr. worked a deal for Jr to run for mayor they decided the best thing to do was to move Mindy out and Jr. in. So they bribed her. She didnt have to work anymore and could still draw her salary and healthcare if she'd step aside. She agreed provided she didnt have to come and sit at city hall. Bob cut the deal and there you have it. Mindy got her full time salary and benefits for watching soap operas from home. As an added bonus, the county still pitches in on economic development that JR. never never delivered and now theres no one in that position. But I doubt the three stooges (commissioners) have even paid attention to that part of the equation.
Anyway, its not just that Bob shuffled employees- its that he bribed McGee and she took it. Problem is the city clerk who is elected to her office, said no she didnt want to cover and lie for Mindy, Bob and Steinhardt Jr. I swear, Bob and his team are worse than Huntington ever was. Oh and by the way, remember Cory Murphy the local economic development guy that got fired, Midcor and the Indiana Economic Development Commission? How about the Mynette Boykins scandal that the city was pushing with IEDC and the local Midcor group? Well, IEDC is under investigation for misuse of funds and has all but been shut down by the governor. Mind you Braun is as crooked as dogs hind leg so for him to shut down one of Mitch Daniels pride and joy scams is a big thing. My point is if elected officials cant step up and do economic development its a pretty bad reflection on them. I say cut the economic development director position now and save the money. The way Courtney and Steinhardt spend it we are going to need every dollar especially with what Braun has done to shift expenses to the local level. Get ready folks a big hike in local income tax is coming. Anyway, thanks Charlie for bringing up the McGee/Steinhardt scandal. A bribes and bribe and its one of Bobs and JRs favorite tools.
