Didn’t Trish Hereford try luxury condominiums on the riverfront and all of them ended up being sold at bankruptcy auction.

This town is being targeted by business scoundrels because you have a Mayor that thinks he is such a great businessman and deal maker. The Mayor is a fraud. He never put deals together. He shuffled paper.

Another example of his idiocy is deciding to resurrect the Ms. Madison just to save face, at what cost. The Ms. Madison quit existing about 15 years ago - when the sport started its downward spiral.

Did anyone ever think of this reason for the Riverfront Condo's? Steinhardt got the inside track on his riverview home before any of us knew about the new park. He swooped in and bought the place on the cheap. Maybe Bob is wanting to get a great deal on a Riverfront condo for himself in the same way Steinhardt obtained his gem of a place.

Madison is known and loved for its small town country feel. We definitely don’t need high rises on the river front. This should not be left to or controlled by Bob and Tony! If they have some connection or personal interest to this project is wrong in just way to many ways. Thevenow has stepped u, in many ways. WTH is the other council people are doing? You members can’t sleep through this decision. Wake up, talk to your district, think about your choice!
To Chief Quabachi, i totally agree with your post about Rucker Sports Complex. It’s just total BS that Bob let it go. That’s a mayor that doesn’t have any cares or concerns about Sports for Madison’s youth. The citizens and parents need to support a Youth program. It gets the children outside, working together and learning how to be a team. That’s what we need to push for and support. :D :D :D :o :o ;) ;) :p :!thinking: :D :D :D :D

Because this community has been identified as an easy mark for government assistance, especially for the well to do. My guess is that one or more of the Grote’s are pushing this so some of their rich friends will move to Madison. I believe it John Grote that heads-up out TIF Board and his brother, Dominic, sits on the statewide IEDC Board, which is now under investigation for waste, fraud and abuse.

It is sad to see Rucker Sports complex sit empty. How does Madison expect to develop a feeder program for high school. My guess is the land is sold off to a developer for housing.

It is of my humble opinion, the Courtney Administration should focus less on the Condo development on the River Front. Instead, they need to fix there early blunder of destroying League play at the Rucker Sports Complex. Those Leagues at Rucker had a huge impact on this community. It was a tradition brought on by many volunteers for decades. Young people played in those Leagues and grew up to be great Madisonians. I'm sure the lessons learned at Rucker helped many of these former players grow up to be incredible parents today. However, Courtney and company took office. Poof! like magic it was all gone. So Courtney and company have strapped our future with all this debt and has stopped our young people from growing via the Rucker sports complex the way many of us did for decades.

We are requesting veterans to come attend this funeral service as no veteran should be buried alone. This veteran served in the Indiana National Guard-Army-from 1987-1990.

Transparency? BOB? Steinhardt? You gotta be kidding!! It took Thevenow going public and putting the whole scheme on Facebook for the public to learn anything. Sure we could all leave work early to run down to city hall before they close at 4 on Friday to see what’s in the agenda but we wouldn’t get the documents that Patrick gave us. As far as what the tif zone was designed for let’s get honest here. Steinhardt and Bob worked a scam to extend the tif zone from the hilltop down basically 10ft of unused railroad tracks coming down the heritage trail area. There’s no way that’s an economic development area. They did that to get around state law that requires a contiguous zone not pieces scattered here and there. Anyway so their scam connects the hilltop to downtown and then they run it along the riverfront and up a few streets and along Main so they can use some of the slush fund downtown because they know it’s illegal to create another free standing tif zone downtown. Nothing transparent about that. But it sure was unethical even if it wasn’t technically illegal.

No matter what, the problem with tif zones is that they take money meant for the general fund and put it in a fund only the mayor controls. Then he gives it away with low interest loans or grants instead of it going to pay for police, roads or water or whatever. And because we can’t afford what we have already and we’re paying hundreds of thousands in interest on multi million dollar loans we really can’t afford to have money taken out of the general fund to give or loan cheap to for profit companies. So when Bob says it doesn’t hurt taxpayers he’s lying and when Steinhardt says it’s economic development he’s lying too. And anybody that thinks we need more luxury housing subsidized by taxpayers is lacking in decency. It’s past time this town and state and nation quit giving money to the rich and taking from the everyday hard worker or the poor. Sit down Bob and Tony Jr. Let Thevenow tell the truth.

It's a 5M Bond, as in a loan of TIF monies from the Redevelopment Commission to the developer. It's what the TIF zones and Redevelopment Commission were designed for and how they are to be used statewide. They aren't getting anything for free.
