Big piece of equipment huh? How about all new pumps because the almighty running the street department and parks didn't think the water would get that high. Oops it did and now we are flooding again. I do believe Tony Steinhardt was in on the decision also. Bob needs to hire people who know what they are doing instead of good ole boys. He is setting up Steinhardt to be the next mayor. People pay attention or we are going to have more of the same.

Road closed downtown by the park and IKE. Signs right up at the road closure and no warning until it’s too late. You’ll have to turn around by the old golf course country club. Come on Bobbie. Put down the glass of whatever and get the street boys posting some road closed up ahead.

Another slide on Hanover Hill. Perfect place for a trail. Lame Lake Lambert needs to find a better way for kids to ride bikes 4 months outta the year. I’m just going to keep posting this. What a crazy waste of money and so dangerous.

So heard a rumor that the city had to buy a big expensive piece of equipment after River water got into the pool and now it’s going to have to turn around and do the same thing again. Didn’t someone warn us about keeping the pool downtown in the flood plain and how everytime the river went up we would end up with some big expenses. Wonder how long it’s going to take to get it cleaned up after this? On a different note anybody think the rock slide on Hanover Hills going to change Looney Lake Lamberts mind about his highway trail?

Thanks for the opportunity to post JB and the flood info.

So how did Bob get it so wrong? Why did he tell people the crest is Wednesday? I get that he looked awful (maybe drinking?) or maybe just confused and didn’t read the flood charts right? It seems dangerous to have someone making emergency announcements and giving wrong info. Just saying.

Good news and bad news-

The good- projected level at 8pm is 450.4. That’s four feet lower than yesterday’s projection. Bad news - it’s still going to flood.

The bad news- by Sunday 8am the level is projected to be 454.4 - so well north of Vaughn and Sunday evening is 456.5- many of the homes and buildings on Vaughn will be taking on water. The good news. Sunday is still lower than the 2018 flood of 457.3 - or at least that’s what’s projected.

Monday 8am we are projected to be 457.6 and by 8pm 458.2. That’s both good and by. The rise has slowed but it takes longer and water will sit in houses and buildings - that’s not good.

The crest is now projected for Tuesday at 458.5 which is about 2 ft less than the 97 crest and a day later than it was yesterday but a tad lower at this time. Still the water is slowing down so buildings will have more water damage.

The good news is to my knowledge all persons are off Vaughn - the bad news flash floods are still a possibility with tonight’s rains.

The good news is- all the tulips and daffodils were picked and a grand time was had by all. It was amazing to have all of Mill up past 2nd filled with cars and folks strolling the gardens with arms full of bloomers. The rain held off and most everyone was so kind. The bad news we had some plant thieves and bulb snatchers. Still everyone’s safe and folks have evacuated with a few exceptions in the county who have a bit longer as they sit a tad higher than downtown. Another update tomorrow. Tjh.

FLOOD UPDATE: according to NOAA- Clifty Creek updated at 6am this morning April 5th. They continue to project a crest on MONDAY APRIL 7th around 2am of 459.3- which is the same as yesterdays forecast. Remember rain here only impacts south of us. It is the rain in Ohio and Pennsylvania that will run our way and impact flood one way or another. Current predictions are based on the EXISTING 3 day forecast so unless more rain falls than expected the crest will come in around the 459 mark. 1997 was 460.9 so around 12-15 inches less than but still if you are near the 1997 flood crest do not wait to prepare. Forecasts can change by the hour and more rain could be possible than what the experts have factored in.

Work TODAY- while the river doesn't look too bad at the moment as it hasnt even crossed Vaughn Drive - it will be across the drive this evening, into the Lanier and Lanthier Winery gardens, have already flooded the pool area, and will begin entering homes and businesses by 9pm this evening- possibly before.

THE RISE WILL BE SWIFT AND DANGEROUS. Different from 1997 the river will not lolly gag its way down here. The current will be extremely fast, flow will be massive and a 6-8 foot rise will occur quickly AFTER it has crossed Vaughn Drive. Projections show today at 8pm - 452.2 and by 2pm on Sunday 458.6 and a slower rise to 459.3 by Monday at 2am.

SAFETY- Do not attempt to continue to move things if you must walk through water. The temperature is so low that it can and will cause hypothermia- but first the cold will restrict flow to your lower legs and feet- throwing off your balance and increasing the risk of falling. In addition---The river will carry massive amounts of large, swift moving, submerged debris. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there. We lost a community member several years back when he was pulled under a large log and was pulled down where his body surfaced near Hanover Beach. He was removing debris from near his boat dock as water rose. It wasn't even a major flood. STAY OUT OF THE WATER.

I will check the official predictions throughout the day. Please stay safe and come and pick some tulips and daffodils before the Ohio takes them. tjh

People and pets first.
