You don't contribute to the legal fund at this point. It is already taken care of my friends. If they need you I'm sure they will set up some sort of protocol to contribute. Just sit back and watch what happens. I believe the acronym is FAFO for the Courtney Administration and the City Council. They are making a big mistake and those egos will walk right into it. I think its funny. Courtney has not only lost all his political clout. He is losing the respect of most everyone in the community. Then this apartment is just not going to happen. You talk about throw it all away in about 12 weeks. I have never seen a politician crash so hard in so little time. The guy deserves it.

"Heard a rumor today that the city is trying to talk the gas company into donating their land on the riverfront to the city. Right in the middle of the riverfront development zone. Anyone think Bob is going to turn it into a park. NO, more housing on the riverfront."

if true this would be in line with what auxier posted... re: legal % of land ownership.

you can't try to make this work AFTER you've voted. if this is true are they trying to work backwards or create a loophole?

Some one should tell Josh Wilbur that whatever chance he had at being Madison Mayor he just flushed away Wednesday evening. We won't forget he screwed the people of Madison and knowingly violated his boards own rules. He is no different from Courtney or Steinhardt.

I get that Mr. Bartlett is sick and not much of a player on city council. He’s not running again so he’s doing favors for Bob. We all Know Ms Krebs is getting a divorce and moving to another district and doesn’t plan to run against Schafer. Everybody wonders why Lucy is so out of it and some blame her firing or rather “layoff” from Visit Madison is to blame. She probably thought she’d have a job forever because of all the dirty deeds she did for them on city council. That leaves Joel Storm, Thevenow, Josh Wilbur and Josh Schafer. 3 of the 4 would never want to be thought of as Courtney’s boot licker. - yet here we are. I say sue the city and name every freakin council member , Nicole and Lyin Bob. Make them all swear under oath they didn’t meet in an illegal meeting before the commission actually called to order.

All Bob

You just offended everyone that lives on Walnut, especially the ones who are proud to live there. What stereotype are we in your mind? Apology expected!

The good news is the legal fund is locked and loaded. Let Lucy, Karla, Jim, and Josh go ahead make my day and vote for this thing at a future City Council meeting. My sources tell me the poor way this was handled will create one nasty * * * storm in court. If I'm a City Council member I would think twice about voting for this. Who knows who will be held liable when this is all said and done. Not to mention, the serious public blow back these people will receive on social media. If these four people want keep on listening to this inept leadership. They deserve everything they get.
F.Y.I: my reports have been dead spot on the past few months. I guarantee this one is not hyperbole. The legal team has the financial backing and is ready to roll just as soon as the City Council votes for this thing. The ball is in your court Mayor Courtney. Then watch what happens to your agenda and your chubby silver spooned stupid extremely lazy City Attorney.

Yes there is a legal fund and within hours of the meeting it had raised over five thousand and grew from there. As fund pledges flew in it became obvious the community was going to continue “to put their money where their mouth is.” The rage against Courtney has only built. Some citizens want a referendum - they are working at signatures and figuring out how to navigate that maze. Obviously Mr. Auxier made it clear - a court action is an option. What he didn’t announce is legal action not only stops construction but it requires discovery and depositions under oath. I can’t imagine all the commission members who gathered for the “illegal by the bathroom meeting” before the meeting will be willing to lie under oath to protect Jenner and Courtney. Furthermore I just don’t see the majority of city council willing to lie under oath- yes a few will - I agree . But even those who want to support the mayor will not lie under oath even if they are willing to lie straight face in a public meeting to citizens who they know as family and friends. It’s a tad tougher under oath and comes with legal repercussions.

There is no reason to discourage any one group. Every approach has great value and shows a united community. In fact I’m amazed by all the local activism. Between signs and protests, massive crowds at each meeting, phone calls, letters, emails , Facebook posts , requests for recall votes and even someone taking the time to design, fund and produce “Crooked Courtney” buttons and then using a drive though so the community could pick them up. This is a huge outpouring of citizens working toward one common cause. That includes republicans, democrats, independents, historic folks, Hilltoppers, tourism businesses, and 3 plan commission members who voted no and 3 more who wished they knew the truth and had voted no. So in other words - it wouldn’t have passed if certain commission members knew all the facts... #RebarDevelopment is appearing more and more across social media as a very effective tool to let the developer know what’s occurring. Since they haven’t had any public meetings in our community as they did in all others- the community is notifying them. With all the division in the country - it is inspiring that one small rural community has come together despite our many other differences.

All the activism places a great deal of pressure on city council to acknowledge the outrage against destroying the heart of the riverfront tourism and recreational district. Sometimes the “people’s” voices rise in so many ways, so loudly and so varied that it causes even our most deaf elected officials to pause and reconsider their actions. Who knows maybe city council members will seek facts and truth before they vote this time. Or maybe we’ll see them in court.
