Comments: So why do we even have a parks department. Nothing besides a pool that’s open 3 months at best and a golf course plus more than half a million over budget. No kids play ball. There’s no after school programs. Every now and then they throw some kind of party once or twice a year. Where does the money go?

Comments: Shane, According the the Council of Foreighn Afairs; the United States agreed, via a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to provide Israel with $3.8 billion per year through 2028. This aid to Israel was negotiated in 2016 by Obama. It seems to be a small price to pay to secure the middle east from being taken over by Hamas, Hezbolla, the Houthis, etc and establishing an Islamic califate, allied and financed by Iran. This pales in comparision to the almost $200 BILLION given to Ukraine over the past two years, to fund a conflict with the Russians they can't win...... Is it money well spent, for some yes, for others apparently not. Should Israel and the Jews perish? For some apparently so.

Comments: John B, While you're at it, you might want to mention about getting 8 million a day from US government. Oh and how about Israel's 11 million dollars each and every day, while they have free healthcare and free college. I guess what we really need is more trillions gifted to the super rich.

Comments: While some hard line gop and maga types are tossing fits about these discussions I want to thank JB for letting them happen. I get that gop folks are upset their guy is taking a hit and I even understand John B saying torching a Tesla doesn’t change anything. But the truth is the #takedowntesla campaign is about taking away some of Musks power and that means hitting him in his pocket. Sales are off in Europe 50% on average and Musks face and Nazi salute is everywhere. It’s a sad situation for the USA to be looked at as Nazi sympathizers and now with signal gate we are military buffoon’s . We are a horrible joke to the rest of the world. We have a paid and bought government from Trump to Courtney . If you donate and kiss arse you are heard. If not you are harassed, drug into court, threatened and ran out of town or worse jailed in some 3d world prison. Courtney passed out pace grant dollars to campaign contributors and pals while Trump and Musk spend it so fast there’s no way any cuts will mean anything. It’s all just gonna help the top 1%in the nation and the arse kissers here in Jefferson County. So let’s build a 10 million dollar trail up Hanover Hill Highway, keep protecting the town pervert and spend, spend, spend.

Comments: Great points John. The trump tax cuts which was a huge win for the top 1 percent earnings ran up the debt limit more than any president before in his first term. Now he wants to do it again. Your points r valid. But the past track record and the current statements r just as valid. It seems turning the tables over on all these programs only benefit the well tio do. The less fortunate have to just * * * it up. With all do respect, Trump puts us in the same category as what he thinks of people who serve in the military. “We all r just suckers and losers.” Not to mention, the quality of people the President has surrounded himself do not lend any confidence whatsoever in figuring out positive ways to make positive change. (See the incompetence in the defense department this week or the conspiracy theory junkie RFK jr.)

Comments: The definition of "insanity" is doing the same things over and over and expecting different results. Every president, from both parties, for the past 6 decades has has warned the American people and congress about the threat to our way of life if we fail to deal with excessive government spending - waste, fraud, abuse, and bureaucratic bloat. In 2023, Fitch DOWNGRADED our governments credit rating "citing fiscal deterioration, a high and growing debt burden, and erosion of governance." Moody's downgraded its outlook to negative, "citing declining fiscal stability and the government risking a default on its debt." These action increased to cost of government borrowing. Currently the governments debt payments are approaching $1 TRILLION dollars a year. (the dept of defense budgert is $850B, FEMA is less than $1B, Medicare $850B, VA $325B) What should REALLY "scare" everyone, is the consequences of failing to deal with our UNSUSTAINABLE national debt. The chaos we are experiencing today will pale in comparison to the "emergency" measures the government will take before it faces a certain default. Sit back and tighten your seat belt, torching Tesla's ain't gonna fix it and Trump's gonna be there for the next 4 years. PERHAPS, if the two parties could find common ground (remember Simpson-Bowles ...Obama ....2010) to work together, there is a chance to avoid further chaos in restructuring the debt, but it seems like long shot to me.
