This authoritarian regime of Courtney Administration is shocking. I never thought our little town of Madison would be hi jacked by a few people. In addition, I never thought Pam Crozier, Karl Eaglin, or even Bob Courtney would behave and condone this type of government. I thought at the end of the day they were nice people. I was mistaken and I’m very disappointed.

Captain America, I didn't name anyone who received any money. No information has came out on the sale. No one has said it was properly handled. What's the holdup? Maybe those involved should come foward and clear their name. Is it that bad? I think the so-called 13,000 owners deserve answers. Let's make sure it's not swept under the rug. I don't think the boat team and H1 know how to market themselves. Checked H1, still no news, no updates. And their broadcast was pitiful. Audio goes out, video freezes up. They have alot of work to do. They can't even land one new site. I'll bet John Humes is rolling over in is grave. He was a straight shooter.
And now the mayor signs a NDA.To the people of Madison I don't care if you are a Democrat, republican, liberal, you don't need people signing NDA's. A non-transparent government is not needed. A hidden government is a corrupt government. Better go see your councilmen in person and attend city meetings. I would suggest you call a tv station out of Louisville to be on sight. Don't be ran over by a secret government.
Look up Tiffany Henyard mayor in Illinois. Don't let people like her run your town.
And that obstacle course they call mainstream, what a mess. Let's get a report on fender Benders since all that mess was implemented.

Mayors can sign NDAs for economic development, they must be mindful of the legal and ethical implications, particularly regarding transparency and public access to information.

After speaking with some people in the know and with knowledge. It’s seems the Mayor’s administration had to or chose to sign a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) with the developer. There by giving the Mayor the excuse to not answer very important questions about this apartment development to the Plan Commission, the City Council and especially the public. This Mayor has made it very clear that he doesn’t give a sh*t about what the majority of the City of Madison’s citizens think. Just Saying.

Ronnie, no cover up, just takes time for due process. To my knowledge Grooms hasn't received any monies as he's planning on suing. again, alledgedly ZERO city dollars have been given to Miss M. Racing.

One scandal after another. Breaking laws left and right now the Courtney -Steinhardt bromance is on the rocks. This all sounds too Trumpy for me. Taking advantage of sweet flower ladies, blackmailing people to donate, bribes, failed projects, awarding himself awards while the boat sinks, businesses close and the whole darn town throws a fit over building apartments on the riverfront, abusing a political rivals fiance’… come on Bob when you gonna militarize the police department and demand access to your opponents homes so you can have em arrested. Madtown vs Naziville one and the same.

Each month since last October when I was asked to track small businesses closures on Main Street - I’ve reported that between one and two tourism based businesses have closed each month. And now June kicks off with McWiggins toy store closure. While they have posted they are moving to all online- the store has been quietly selling off their fixtures and toy lines. I’ve no idea if they intend to offer the building for sale or perhaps lease or if they intend to “chuck it all”, liquidate all buildings and assets and leave town. Perhaps they will take their animal cruelty rodeo with them if they go. Who knows.

But back to the economic decline on Main Street. The truth is without those businesses our historic Main Street will crumble. Vacant stores don’t pay rent and building owners will not hold unprofitable locations. So the risk to the historic district is substantial. Small programs were put in place to help; signage grants, grants for facade improvements and access to a few educational and support programs. Obviously, they are not having the desired results. Closures continue- 13 at my last count- including restaurants, antique, gift, clothing, toy, home accessory, secondhand, art, salons and spas. So the carnage is wide spread. A few store fronts have new tenants - but way too few to compensate for the losses.

I’ve no idea if Main Street, Visit Madison or even the city’s economic development department are contacting owners to see why they closed and if they had recommendations for the city, historic preservation folks, Main Street and of course Visit Madison. The idea that they are all mom and pops or that none have anything to offer or that “this is happening everywhere” are simply poor excuses for people who really haven’t taken the time to find out what’s really going on. Look for at least three more shops to close this summer or early fall- they have already indicated such. Since shopping is the number one tourism activity after dining - it seems obvious the business owners should be consulted and their concerns taken seriously. But what do I know…

Yeah! Where's the transparency?
What went wrong? Where did the money go. Maybe Doge needs to be called in. Biggest scandal, cover up in Madison history. Then H1 trying to cover for them. Nice try. People see right through the smoke screen.
