Comments: Thank you to Patrick Thevenow for bringing it to the public’s attention that the city had not done what they were legally supposed to do and thanks to Mr. Wilbur for standing up to the mayor who was trying to pressure the plan commission to continue to do illegal things. I’m not sure I understood everything but I understood enough to know that people falsified something on the application for the proposed riverfront district that would allow the apartment building. First time ever I’ve yelled at a public meeting. It was good to see so many stand up against Bob.

Comments: If that is what you call a City Attorney in Joe Jenner tonight. Then I can start game 6 at Center for the Pacers in Indianapolis on Thursday night. Unprepared and unprofessional is all I can say. It's just like Dean Wormer said in Animal House. "Fat drunk and stupid is no way to go through life." Clean up your act or get out!
Josh Wilbur is my new hero. Kudos to Patrick Thevenow.
Keep up the fight Madison. This is your town not Bob Courtney's!

Comments: @resident. That does make sense since they seem to have the same document. Thanks for clarification. So in reality the properties were probably purchased for $40,000 and then sold to Swell for $200,000. Either way if that zoning isn’t approved… Swell is sitting on $200,000 of property.

Submitted by Name: Public hearing tonight
Comments: The proposed riverfront apartment complex hearing will begin again this evening at city hall. It’s actually a proposal to create a new riverfront district to allow residential, restaurant, business etc. along the north side of Vaughn Drive. The proposal has been vehemently opposed by a broad base of the community. Opposition crosses party lines, historic district supporters, green space supporters, downtown businesses, tourism advocates, and hilltop as well as downtown residents and country residents who enjoy the riverfront amenities. The mayor has worked to limit public engagement by refusing to open a safer more appropriate venue to accommodate the large crowds. The mayor’s uses of a non disclosure agreement with the developer, who is not the applicant for the change has caused public outrage and raised additional concern over the mayor’s lack of transparency and honesty which have been at an all time low secondary to accusations that the mayor has continued to intimidate and harass citizens. I’ll let you know how it goes. Tjh

Comments: @ random man. I could be wrong, but I think you will find that all four parcels were bought for a total of $200,000 or $50,000 each. The property cards can be deceiving.

Comments: So it should be absolute common sense that it's one * * * per seat in your golf cart. So tell me why I've saw multiple people with kids packed in like sardines 3-4 kids per 2 seat bench. Oh yes, the entitlement most people around here have and nothing is being done about it. Bigger fish to fry til someone gets killed right?

Comments: Comparing the map of the riverfront development with the owners listed on GIS property cards you will notice almost all the property is held by a few entities. City of Madison HH Holdings 748 Scott Ct Madison, B&H Holdings 1679 N Old State Rd 62 Madison, Swell LLC 9831 Main Tree Dr ANCHORAGE,AK (the developers of the Cotton Mill project)
According to property cards Swell LLC purchased 4 lots from Corey Hankins for $200,000 each. Property cards show Mr.Hankins purchased the properties in 2020 for either $0 or $20,000… depending on the property.
If you search Mr. Hankins in Jefferson county GIS he only shows up on those 4 properties.
Does something smell funny? How long has this been in the works? Would a local developer been given the same opportunity?
How will the Mayor tell Swell LLC in Alaska they can’t develop $800,000 worth of riverfront property in Madison?
Is this why the Mayor won’t disclose??
Food for thought….

Comments: So proud of our community coming out for the protest on the bridge yesterday. There was an estimated 800 people there. The pictures prove it.
Also proud of our community for stepping up for the lgbtq+ community. The turnout at Pride this year was better than last year and better than expected. They even braved a little bit of rain. It was busy the entire time.
