I appreciate your patience Jeff- I’ve got multiple emails ,video and now text messages to sort regarding the mayor and his wife chasing a citizen and then attempting to intimidate her. That incident was followed by several emails to CASA - and I’m told conversations that lead to the CASA director participating in the mayor’s vendetta against the citizen. There may or may not have been some coercion to get the director to terminate volunteer privileges. However I have confirmed that the CASA director never bothered to contact the volunteer to discuss or confirm any allegations. There is a video I feel confident CASA has not seen because had they- they may have taken different action- unless - again- there was some coercion or threat from the mayor . I hope to get answers on that topic yet this evening.

I have confirmed CASA did not notify the volunteer- instead CASA notified a client who then text the volunteer. That is how the volunteer found out there was a problem. CASA’s unprofessional and cruel conduct is disappointing and concerning. CASA is an organization built entirely on court appointed volunteers and this volunteer had just received the outstanding volunteer award in October. I have no idea why CASA failed to do the ethical and honest thing and reach out to their volunteer before engaging in the vendetta against a city councilman’s family. However, the volunteer did receive written notice eventually - shortly after a text from a clients family. Still - who wants to volunteer for an organization that has a policy of participating in political vendettas?

What I can also add is the CASA board of Directors determined there was a problem with the mayor’s wife who was a CASA board member at the time. I’m gathering information on those discussions- however rather than face dismissal from the board Mrs Courtney resigned immediately.

I have been unable to locate anything in writing that details why the mayor and his wife chased after a citizen and began a confrontation with that citizen/volunteer. What most in the community know is that the mayor has publicly blamed Councilman Thevenow for the outrage and resistance to the riverfront luxury condo project. What many knew is that the mayor and his wife were seen chasing after a member of Thevenows family while the mayor was driving a vehicle displaying the official city emblem.

I keep shaking my head trying to figure out even if the volunteer actually did “flip a bird” how does Bob and his wife fall apart to the point of chasing a citizen and getting a group like CASA to act as unethically as they have? There’s hundreds of citizens and other CASA, boys and girls club, library volunteers and ……and… and… who give or have given Bob “the bird”, cursed at him, called him names, laughed at him etc etc. He’s an elected official- that’s what happens when you make unpopular decisions. It’s not a reason to chase someone down and try to spark a confrontation from your vehicle with your wife sitting there.

So- if you could give me a little more time - I might be able to get a few more facts. —-thank you ~ I’m sending the mayors e-mails now Tjh

Its a pity really. Bob doesnt act like a mayor, more like a spoiled brat.Hes supposed to be a leader be he certainly is not ! He like the smoke and mirrors . Telling news people everyone wants that luxury eye sore but its obvious btmy yhe vrowd that is far from the truth.He doesnt listen to anyone . Just the wee voices in his head telling him hes the chosen one snd he csn fo what he wants.Wherevever he wants.
Holcomb made him into a little golden boy saying his name often , giving him that hes better than us attitude.Then bestoys a totally unearned and under deserving Sagamore award. I had to hold back the vomit. Then the MCS gave him an award as well . Hesxan achiever alright. They over looked grads over the years that had actualky accomplished something in thier lives to give it to him.
Lets not stand by and let him take this city down any further. This guy is totally out of contol. He tries his best to run the county business. In fact it appears at times he is. I say this mess shoukd be the end of the road and we all need to put him notice. To make amends. He needs to come out, say hes over stepped his bounds or lets put him out next time and find a good person to run this community that isnt trying to help his friends get rich off of us and maybe himself as well. All while watching the homeless get worse off that starving thevremainer ofvus out. Hes no mayor !!

If our mayor is so thin skinned that he has to have anyone or everyone either threatened with a law suit or termination by friends or family related to an organizatio, the he really needs to finds new job. So far over his 4+ years as mayor, he has only caused hateful accusations, threats and accusations against those that choose to challenge him on any issue. All that and not including the over budget expenditure he has incurred. It’s about time for him to realize not everything or everyone supports his decisions.

I will be forwarding Jeff copies of the emails the mayor sent to CASA, the agency that terminated a volunteer based on the mayor’s actions. I am in the process of attempting to verify If CASA management did so without even notifying the volunteer and if in fact the volunteer learned from a CASA family member. I can’t imagine why CASA would fail to discuss any issues with the volunteer - so I want to be sure to provide accurate info. I’ll just have to get back to you.

I do know that CASA, like many organizations that depend on some government funding is as concerned as all other groups with the random federal cuts. That means they are all seeking ways to raise money. CASAs newest effort is taking over the Memorial Day car show that Robert Little and Kenny Washer and their team used to run so well. When the mayor threatened them, they stood their ground and cancelled the show. I’m not making excuses for CASA’s behavior - I’m only saying things may be complicated and CASA may have been bullied or intimidated as well. Still- let’s hope they didn’t act unfairly toward their volunteer.
