Cactus , are you suprized ? BOBS Been using this city like his personal cash cow since he took office. He has also taken the quaintness from this town and it looks teashy.
This river front project should behis swan song. People see him now for what he is. People i never thought would say of foul word against dear ole bob are not very happy. I heard that his party are thinking about primaring him . Hum... the hand writting on the wall. He certainly over played his hand this time.

As for accusations about someone’s- even a police officers extramarital activities unless you send your name and verifiable information- Jeff will not post slander/ libelous rumors. If you can prove it’s true - and will provide your name as a confidential source and it has some value related to the community rather than personal vendetta - Jeff will consider posting it. Complaining he only allows certain views may be accurate on occasion - but he does try to be fair. However there is no point in hurting a family on a public forum if the matter is not of a public nature. So unless the “affair” is between elected officials or results in some sort of illegal employment, nepotism etc there is little to no value to the public overall. Sending repeated posts with the same information doesn’t change the fact that- he needs your name and verifiable information as to how this impacts the public. Hope that helps ease your concern that is something personal against your topic or post- because Jeff is most certainly not protecting a police officer nor city official. Tjh

Can someone point to the study that says there is a housing shortage downtown? Because we have homeless people living downtown does not mean there is a housing shortage. Some of these people do not want a home. Some do not have the ability to take care of a home. Giving them a home only attracts more homeless people. There needs to be interventions not free homes. I know I sound heartless, but look at Seattle or San Francisco for examples of what happens when you give people everything.

So no mention of the "market" pricing of these condos yet in this space. 1 bedrooms $1350/mo and 2 bedrooms $2K/mo. Definitely not affordable and they're going to have to keep the occupants from subletting. Which brings me to my next point. Does anyone have a number whether a house count or percentage of downtown properties being used as full time AirBNBs etc? Could this also be causing the housing shortages downtown?

@downtowner no one is saying leave the lot empty. They are saying no to an ill planned high rise that benefits a very small group. A plan was offered to move farmer's market to that area among other things. Mayor said no one has offered any other solutions. NO ONE ASKED THE COMMUNITY FOR INPUT.

Many have worked hard over the years to preserve the historical footprint of downtown Madison. There are more thoughtful uses for that land that would benefit ALL of Madison.

The mayor and "deputy mayor" thought they could push this through without anyone noticing. If Thevenow hadn't made this known beforehand it would have been a done deal.

Maybe the question needs to be asked WHY are Courtney and Steinhardt pushing this? What's really going on? 👣💰👣💰👣💰

Hey downtowner, you're wrong it is our property. We are the city. It doesn't belong to any one individual. Any decisions concerning public city owned property should be brought before the public and not in secrecy. I might add old Courtney is destroying any future prospects for the Republican party by doing all the selfish things he has done. What about bob? Not much

It was great, Charles, how you added the next letter in condominiums to the usual condo shortening of the word. Opens up all kinds of word plays - Bob’s condoms, the community getting screwed. One could even play around with the complete erection on the site. On another topic, many times these projects have a certain percentage of occupancy lined up ahead of time before starting the project. Can’t imagine anyone wanting to buy one knowing how the community views the condoms, and might well view them.
