Comments: Ýou can bet there was no bid for Serv Pro or Envirocape not when you see who they belong to or associated with. The good ole boys club is going strong. It will be interesting on how the council will vote on the high rise apartments. Will the good ole boys club kick in again?

Comments: I can't begin to tell you how many times I have been asked by out of towners, why there aren't nice restaurants overlooking our beautiful riverfront. The only answer I could give is that it was a flood plane. Several asked why other towns figured out how to make it work. My only answer was that the right rich person hasn't pushed it. I guess that's happening now, but for some gaudy condos.

Comments: In recent weeks there has been some contractors working on the cleanup on the river. ServPro (Steinhardt business) at Crystal Beach swimming pool. Enviroscape doing sod at the City campground and Crystal Beach. My question is was these jobs bid on or just some more good ol boy network.

Comments: This project specifically caters to the upper class and Courtney and Steinhardt's executive friends. They don't give two hoots about us regular citizens at all.

Comments: 20 some years ago when I purchased my home downtown in going through the VA process, they had to determine as to whether or not the property was in the flood plain. If it had been the whole deal was off as the VA had sense enough not to waste taxpayer money funding a loan in an area very prone to flooding. I might add 20 years ago we had a pool, sports leagues, good streets and a police department that enforced the law.

Comments: Back in the 90s I had a chance to buy the resturant behind the pits. I talked to the city planning and gave them plans to add on the building. I was told no, I could not add on to the building. The reason, it's in the flood zone. So did the flood plane get moved? Big money should not skirt the law. Why not put your efforts into bringing business to Madison? The department of defense has many components that need to be made somewhere. Fly out of town commissioners and bring jobs to the town. Building expensive condos only benefits a few. About the pool.Did anyone look in detail what the money went for. Sounds to me some contractors made a boat load of cash. I would like to see the breakdown labor and material. I doubt it took $300 for concrete. And how many millions did it cost. Kickbacks happen when big money is in play. Hope that didn't happen.

Comments: That's really disappointing that the mayor made that statement. Is he truly that out of touch with what the community wants? Yes, some are in favor of the proposed condominiums, but look at who those people are...
At no time has anyone said they don't want that land developed; it's that they don't want a high rise condominium unit.
Bob should back off and look for other projects that will benefit the whole community not just a select few. And stop the BS that it will ease the housing shortage.

Comments: Why not develop the property at the corner of Wilson avenue and Hutchinson lane into luxury apartments?

Comments: At the Redevelopment Commission's very, very short meeting held on Tuesday, May 13th, the day following the very, very long city Plan Commission meeting for the the Mayor's proposed riverfront zoning change to have luxury apartments built that was tabled, the Mayor made the following statement. It is approximately 17:45 minutes in the meeting that was taped on Youtube.
"Some unhappy members of our community that don't want to see anything improve on the riverfront."
One would believe a petition with over 1000 signatures is significantly more than some. It is obviously that the Mayor is not likely to reconsider his plan.
It's damn the torpedoes (citizens),full speed ahead.
