LIHTC are tax credits, that’s the TC in LIHTC. So somewhere in the process of buying the lot, constructing the building, and people buying or renting, along the way this affordable housing is taxpayer subsidized. The earlier poster even said developers would rather put LIHTC (taxpayer money) in than their own. Well duh.

Let’s not be fooled.

Any apartment complex coming to Madison will not be “affordable” unless it is government subsidized.

Investors are not going to put money into a development and not have a substantial return on investment.

The riverfront apartments are just the start. The same entities own or have interest in multiple sites on the riverfront.

Too bad we can’t turn the clock back have that riverboat casino.

Hey Housing sense you make no sense. The mayor was talking affordable housing it's not going to happen on river front property or mountain property or beach front property etc. you really think that a piece of property as valuable as that is going to developed as affordable housing, you're delusional

It is not just Bob who is not paying attention to the people. It is City Council, Karl Eaglin, Mr. Loughlin and the rest of the administration.
Yes, Bob is negligent on the Apartment Complex. But those stooges other than Thevenow on the Council. They have there hand in it just as much.

I have zero idea who the "nice lady" is on dispatch tonight but her attitude is the worst. From the second she answered the phone she had an attitude and withheld officer dispatch unless I gave her my first and last name. I have never been treated so low by a "public servant" and she needs to be fired for work avoidance and unprofessionalism.

It’s just a crying * * * shame that the mayor has not followed the comments, signs, sit-ins, etc. before he accepts that our community does NOT want this to happen. All the meetings that need extra room for CONCERNED citizens that are truly NOT in favor of this deal! He got himself too far into this plan before he realized, Oh! * * * I need citizens approval, didn’t think about that 😳! So here we are, at an impasse. We the people fight to the bitter end, or the very few under Bob’s spell bail him out. You few bailers remember this vote after it’s done, the citizens will also remember what you did!

Although I know Tami and Jeff would never allow it, I swear some of these posts have to be made up for clickbait. Affordable housing can be built anywhere in any community. Rivers, lakes, mountains make absolutely no impact upon LIHTC credits or housing requirements. IF you do not know what what LIHTC funding is, then you really shouldn't be posting about affordable housing. Granted, not all affordable housing requires LIHTC funding, but most developers would rather fund a portion of their project with those dollars rather than out of their own pocket. Whether the affordable criteria are very low, low median, moderate or otherwise, most modern day affordable homes use outside funding. In case people might be narrow minded enough to consider these as "projects" they are not Section 8 housing at all. Rents in many places with LIHTC funding can be over $2500 a month. Without the mountains.

Saw our "mayor" preaching "affordable" housing on WDRB. There is no such thing as affordable housing on a riverfront, ocean view, lakes side or mountain view property. He is such a a liar

Going to be the battle of all battles in the Courtroom regarding Armstrong. Armstrong got a hang em judge out of Dearborn County. His new prosecutor enjoys high profile cases. He got the conviction of Jamie Noel. His peers say " he is not only tough but strategically tough." Then Mr. Armstrong has the best attorney in Southeastern Indiana. If it makes it to Court in January. Mr. Armstrong will have to come up with crazy money. If he does, the courtroom drama will be at an all-time high. We will all just find out if the evidence collected by the State Police will stick. Don't forget, the State Police will be heavily invested in this thing. Going to get interesting.

Honestly, I believe there are a lot of people who follow your site JB. We may not post as much but when we want to know what is truly important and what is going on this is where we find out. The Madison Courier doesn't seem to do do, of course they aren't going to say anything bad about the Mayor. I can find out more on here or the Hearld out of Scottsburg which is free, than anywhere.
So maybe another rate increase for the water department my goodness mine already jumped $20.this last time. The Mayor needs to quit spending money. I'm over his money spending. The flower beds on main are awful, the river front has no flowers hardly except what was put out a long time and then they even weed whack one bed that had flowers in it instead of weeding it. Apparently these new bosses don't know what the hell they are doing.
