Comments: I’ve seen it said the condo building is 5 stories. Bottom story would not be for living space, so 4 stories for living space. I’ve seen 50 plus units in the project. That would mean maybe 13 per floor of the 4 floors, or 13, 13, 12, 12 for the 4 floors. What sq. ft. are these units? Eyeballing the lot 12 or 13 units on one floor doesn’t look like they are very big. But maybe my eyeballs are off. Also I’ve seen there will be a few affordable housing units in it. How does that work. Are these building materials and appliances cheaper for those than the other units? Do the other units cover some of the costs for the cheaper ones to make them more affordable?

Comments: Farmers Market is located in great place around Broadway Fountain. Shade for those very hot Saturdays!

Comments: Only six of the 50 plus units will be affordable housing. The Mayor and company just keep spreading this garbage about an affordable housing project. This is why these people can't be trusted no matter what they tell ya.
The Fairfield people are pushing for this. They have secured several pieces of Riverfront front property. They want to add another big building close to there property. They want this to happen badly.
The big picture this is not about just one blighted property. It is about the whole makeup of the riverfront.

Comments: Anyone else notice the date of this special plan meeting? August 6, which happens to be Madison's first day of school. How convenient!

Comments: Someone suggested moving the Farmers Market there, I think that would be an ideal spot what with the park across the street. But, that probably makes too much sense! And no revenue! I'm really afraid the vote is going to be 6-1.

Comments: Those of us that are opposed to the condos are NOT saying leave it as a dirt parking lot for dock storage. We are saying develop it in a way that benefits the whole community and does not change the landscape of the riverfront. If this is allowed it's only the beginning. What's going to be next?. People need to wake up. These condos will not have a significant impact on the local economy. Somebody is getting something from it, but I guarantee it's not going to be local business and restaurants.
The mayor is trying to sell this as affordable housing. I call BS. We all know who will be living there. These are not being built for the average family.

Comments: This year's regatta was NOT a success for the fans. Maybe a financial success for the Madison Regatta. Big letdown for the fans, unless you owned a boat. I think the admission to the regatta should be based on how many races are ran as compared to how many were scheduled to run. The H1 should issue refunds at the gate for omitted races. If a business can continue to fail and nothing is done it will lead to more failure. Sunday was a beautiful day, somebody goofed.

Comments: I think the building will at the least look as good as gravel and old docks pilled up

Comments: If the Mayor and his team consider the past two regatta races a success for the Miss Madison Team, then the bar has been set very low.
Just how much money did the Mayor spend to not finish a single lap in Alabama and have mechanical failure at Madison.
More importantly, who are all the new grifters hanging around to get free trips and meals.
Success My A$$!

Comments: I'm still wondering if H1 will explain why a wind delay was put into effect. The weather says we had winds at 8mph. I didn't see any white caps. I've seen worst conditions in the past and the races went on. I think in the last couple of year the fans have been short changed. H1 has proven to be a slow moving bunch. Way to much down time for the fans to wait between races. I know we had other boats, which ate up most of the racing time.I don't mind paying to see unlimited. But now too few boats, very short heats, basically 3-4 minutes per race. What happened to the old days when you had to prove yourself and your equipment. While the fans are being handed delays the H1 people are up there patting theirselves on the back. Maybe another patch for their uniforms. This bunch can't come up with new race sites, enough boats, ideals on how to attract new young fans. The Madison Regatta did their job. The incompetent H1 caused a ton of fans to exit the river early, including me. Something I haven't done in 60 + years attending the race. If you need proof of conditions to race check out 1997 Detroit Gold Cup on youtube 10-15 winds, showers. If H1 can't allow boats to race in 8 mph wind then the unlimited should not make the trip. H1 needs to look in the mirror and ask yourself, how much more can I screw up hydroplane racing. You people are pathetic
