Comments: If the Mayor and his team consider the past two regatta races a success for the Miss Madison Team, then the bar has been set very low.
Just how much money did the Mayor spend to not finish a single lap in Alabama and have mechanical failure at Madison.
More importantly, who are all the new grifters hanging around to get free trips and meals.

Comments: I'm still wondering if H1 will explain why a wind delay was put into effect. The weather says we had winds at 8mph. I didn't see any white caps. I've seen worst conditions in the past and the races went on. I think in the last couple of year the fans have been short changed. H1 has proven to be a slow moving bunch. Way to much down time for the fans to wait between races. I know we had other boats, which ate up most of the racing time.I don't mind paying to see unlimited. But now too few boats, very short heats, basically 3-4 minutes per race. What happened to the old days when you had to prove yourself and your equipment. While the fans are being handed delays the H1 people are up there patting theirselves on the back. Maybe another patch for their uniforms. This bunch can't come up with new race sites, enough boats, ideals on how to attract new young fans. The Madison Regatta did their job. The incompetent H1 caused a ton of fans to exit the river early, including me. Something I haven't done in 60 + years attending the race. If you need proof of conditions to race check out 1997 Detroit Gold Cup on youtube 10-15 winds, showers. If H1 can't allow boats to race in 8 mph wind then the unlimited should not make the trip. H1 needs to look in the mirror and ask yourself, how much more can I screw up hydroplane racing. You people are pathetic

Comments: I have been informed Lucy has left Madison Tourism. However, she is still on the hook with the Mayor for helping her get this job. It is still Quid Pro Quo. All this time she has worked at Madison Tourism and been on the Council up to this point has been a huge conflict of interest and shouldn't go on in this town.
On another point, The Mayor and company keep saying this site has only about a dozen of the same posters. They have us under control. This misinformation is a load malarky. Look at the 100 plus signs in yards all over town. It is more than just a dozen of us. Its a dominate portion of this town.

Comments: Maybe the city needs to limit the number of golf cart licenses per the population . If you want to live in a "golf cart community" try the villages in Florida.

Comments: @golf carts As a golf cart owner, I understand your angst toward us, because I too see the abuse and lack of respect for the ordinance. But please do not let one or two instances or the actions of some over a holiday weekend skew your opinion of the rest of us. A vast majority of us follow the ordinance and use our carts with common sense. That's all your asking for, correct?
It's been said many times, enforce the ordinance and a lot of this stuff will go away. It's no different than an automobile, cite or arrest the few causing the problems and the rest will conform. I sneered at a golf cart just the other day on Main St, only to see that it had a license plate and is considered an LSV by the State, and is legally allowed on Main St. There will always be those that think the ordinance doesn't apply to them or some willing to take that chance.
My point is golf cart users "contribute" to the overall downtown success. The number of golf cart owners is only going to increase. I believe golf cart passes has surpassed 1000 or is close.
We just want to enjoy a nice scenic trip, maybe pick up some ice cream or pizza, and share the road.

Comments: The thing that gets me about this Riverfront Apt complex. Is people like Lucy Dattillo ha been bought and sold. She wanted a job @ the Madison Tourism for years. Finally, she got it. Plus she serves on the City Council. This screams "Conflict of Interest." Now the heat is on and the Mayor needs the votes to get this through. You can guarantee she will vote Courtney's way. This is blatant "Quid Pro Quo." Which means "this for that." It should not exist in any form of government. Lucy can act like she is on the up and up. Quite Frankly, she is clearly not.

Comments: @Carts, thank you for posting the state codes.
@Downtownertoo, there are 10-12 that have license plates and are allowed on Main Street. Watch the City Council meeting from the first meeting in April and you will find the revisions, or ask your councilman. I think that they passed that all golf carts can drive on Main Street from Craigmont to the golf course at the West end of town. Only ones with license plate can drive on Main Street from Jefferson to Craigmont. Whether people like it or not this is a golf cart community, sorry.

Comments: Just a thought on Bob's proposed condo units. It would be a shame to put any type of housing unit on that spot. I don't care if it's high rise, low rise, no rise, this is not the place for it. We have a stunningly beautiful riverfront and spot zoning would be disastrous. Mayor Bob talks about progress. This is not the type of progress we need. Build your condos, Bob. Just find a different spot for them or is your deal contingent on this piece of land?
I urge the zoning board members and city council members to vote NO. Only you can stop this. I sincerely hope you are listening to the people Remember why you are serving the community. Dig deep and say no to Bob, say no to changing the zoning laws.
