Great points John. The trump tax cuts which was a huge win for the top 1 percent earnings ran up the debt limit more than any president before in his first term. Now he wants to do it again. Your points r valid. But the past track record and the current statements r just as valid. It seems turning the tables over on all these programs only benefit the well tio do. The less fortunate have to just * * * it up.
With all do respect, Trump puts us in the same category as what he thinks of people who serve in the military. “We all r just suckers and losers.”
Not to mention, the quality of people the President has surrounded himself do not lend any confidence whatsoever in figuring out positive ways to make positive change. (See the incompetence in the defense department this week or the conspiracy theory junkie RFK jr.)

The definition of "insanity" is doing the same things over and over and expecting different results. Every president, from both parties, for the past 6 decades has has warned the American people and congress about the threat to our way of life if we fail to deal with excessive government spending - waste, fraud, abuse, and bureaucratic bloat. In 2023, Fitch DOWNGRADED our governments credit rating "citing fiscal deterioration, a high and growing debt burden, and erosion of governance." Moody's downgraded its outlook to negative, "citing declining fiscal stability and the government risking a default on its debt." These action increased to cost of government borrowing.
Currently the governments debt payments are approaching $1 TRILLION dollars a year. (the dept of defense budgert is $850B, FEMA is less than $1B, Medicare $850B, VA $325B) What should REALLY "scare" everyone, is the consequences of failing to deal with our UNSUSTAINABLE national debt. The chaos we are experiencing today will pale in comparison to the "emergency" measures the government will take before it faces a certain default. Sit back and tighten your seat belt, torching Tesla's ain't gonna fix it and Trump's gonna be there for the next 4 years. PERHAPS, if the two parties could find common ground (remember Simpson-Bowles ...Obama ....2010) to work together, there is a chance to avoid further chaos in restructuring the debt, but it seems like long shot to me.

I suppose we can all just pretend that there is not a financial crisis looming with social security, Medicare, and many other government institutions. We also know it is political suicide to even bring up this sad fact so most politicians remain silent because the few that don’t get crucified in public.

The most astonishing thing is that when courageous people come in and finally begin to expose the fraud and criminality that got us here in the first place, it is they that become the bad guys. It’s a catch 22 to Armageddon.

It appears that nearly half this country will be happy to give their freedom up for a dictatorship. Freedom is easy to lose but very hard to regain.

JB has shared a few of the posts he has denied. A couple of tips: do not insult a fellow contributor, do not insult a group of persons be it Dems, republicans, women, racial or religious groups. There’s no point in going after Obama, Biden, Bush etc- that’s the past- “move on” to Trump , Braun and Musk and how their policies impact you or local services. Remember JBs page- JB makes the rules and can break the rules- no one else can. If you don’t know why your post was denied send a note. Tjh

I think it’s fair to say people are scared. Veterans have been treated badly. They are scared. People who need health insurance are scared. People who are on social security are scared. People that work at libraries, state parks, social security offices, colleges are scared. Poor people are really scared and so are legal immigrants. Regular people are tired of being picked on. The only people who aren’t scare it seems are the rich. Thank you for letting people have a voice without fear the government will hunt them down and throw them in jail.

Sec. Noem made a comment that "we're going to eliminate FEMA" at the cabinet meeting yesterday, however, FEMA is authorized in statute so not sure how they are going to get rid of it. At the time of the cabinet meeting, there was legislation sponsored by Donalds R-Fla and Moskowitz D-Fla that would turn FEMA into an independent, Cabinet-level agency taking it out of the bureaucracy of DHS.
Not everything is as things are implied in the media.

They used signal to hide what they were doing so that any record would be erased. Just like Courtney and his way of hiding public records. I’m sick and tired of the cr@p already and today just learned Trump plans to eliminate FEMA. Anybody like me that lives along the river or went through the big tornado knows what that means for all of us. No home owners insurance covers flood so I keep my flood insurance but am not eligible to file a claim unless we are a disaster area and FEMA comes in. Here’s the kicker there’s not enough local money or state to set up all the emergency services we needed when the tornado took out the hilltop and a chunk of the Hanover. We need FEMA. There’s a handful of states that use FEMA more than others, mostly flood and hurricane and then tornado. If you think all this coming out of Trump isn’t local you will when local tax rates jump up to cover all the random cuts and next time a tornado blows through or the river rises plan on taking a big loss.

This is only day 52 of the Trump administration. Nothing but chaos for everyone and this has an impact on locals. This is not conservatism. Example: they said in the campaign they would not touch Social Security. Yet, a Republican Senator goes on Meet The Press on Sunday and says “we need to stop misleading Americans about Social Security. In a couple months I will recommend changes.” This has a high impact on locals.
